wrong turn at Albuquerque.
Only wagons are the jacked up models, which is fine, but they killed the WRX hatch and aren't going to bring the STi Legacy either.
You have three customers and two have been loyal. People who love the rally scene and worship your performance lineup, we are getting older and have families now, just so your marketing department can figure it this out, I am telling you.
Crunchy granolla tree huggers
and people who realized they could get AWD for FWD Accord and Camry prices. And what is with the outrageous prices for the electronic doo-dads? I can buy cheaper stuff on a Lexus.
Bring the hatches and lift gates, even if in limited numbers.
I just want the Levorg. And will never get it.
I get the feeling Subaru is following in the footsteps of many others and trying to be more like Toyota to gain a larger market share. FWIW, a non-enthusiast friend of mine went out of his way to talk about how cool the XV Crosstrek was when they came out, and asked me what I thought of them. I have never had a non-enthusiast friend ask about the BRZ, WRX, etc.
I have been disappointed with Subarus designs. They had to go beige to compete. I used to love the way the Legacy and Impreza looked, then they just went bland. Even the Forester didn't look like the average SUV, now it looks like an out of date Ford Escape.
I loved the old Outback too, but they turned it into a Psuedo-SUV. It no longer looks like a Legacy wagon.
Yeah, I've been drooling over the Levorg as well....though that one may even get killed in Japan, since it's not selling well. IDK, it's EXACTLY what I want....basically a WRX true wagon (not just a hatch).
I swear to God that if they sold the Levorg here (with a M/T), I would go to the dealer the month they arrived and trade in for it. It's like the old LGT wagon, only better.....(or so it seems).
I used to like the Outback and Fozzie, but both are really just Rav4s these days it seems.
On the upside, at least the WRX/STi keeps getting better performing, and still comes with a stick shift. And they have the BRZ as well. So they still have basically 3 "motorsports" models in the range, which is more than can be said for pretty much any other non-luxury car company out there except maybe Mazda (and Ford getting back to that as well).
Go look at the junk that Nissan (a company with a proud motorsports heritage) is throwing onto the US market these days....bloated sedans with CVT, terrible compacts like the Versa, and more ugly SUVs. Hell, seems like Nissan's sporty model is the freaking Juke R. GT-R excepted since that's a way different price bracket. 370z is an afterthougt in the Nissan line now.

I really want a turbo Crosstrek XV.
I would love a Blitzen Legacy

Me too, although I test drove one with the CVT and I could live with it.
That is the only Subaru I have ever cared about. The company disappeared forever for me the second they stopped making it.
and what is with the hybrid? 4 mpg in the city for all that much more money? Really? It's like they are starting to fall asleep at the wheel over there. Maybe the fallout from the reactor is getting them.
Remember they are part owned by Toyota and therefore the beige is creeping in.
Went to the auto show and glanced at the Subaru's as we walked by and realized there was nothing interesting there. They've lost the plot and are at risk of following Mitsubishi into irrelevance (outside their one halo car).

Their sales have been increasing since 2007, and the overall trend since 1996 has been increasing sales. I'd say they have it figured out, as much as I wish there was a Levorg here or an STI or WRX wagon/hatch. My mom, someone who might actually buy a new car and can pay for it, really wants a new Outback.

That for around 1000 bucks in parts you can take an 04ish forester XT wagon and have 270hp and over 300tq
And Nick I still love the 2dr 2.5RS the STI swapped ones are droolworthy
Also I've seen some widebody ones doing time attack and they are hnngggh
It seems that Subaru started seeing sales success once they stopped catering to enthusiasts, sadly. Most of the "Subaru enthusiasts" I know are crunchy moms. The Crosstrek and Forester are the bread and butter cars, and they're selling like hot cakes.
It's been all downhill since the RX and XT turbo.
I am never quite sure why everyone always wants to blame the manufacturer for Americas tastes. This is an enthusiast forum, we want a hot wagon with a manual. The fact of the matter is no on else does. Wagons don't sell and performance wagons sell even less. How many CTS V wagons do you see on any given day? Or AMG or BMW wagons? Or yellow or even red vehicles. Not many if any at all. The roads are full of grey and silver SUVs and CUVs. That's most of America. Certainly there are some areas like southern California and Florida that may be different but in general pretty bland and boring. Subaru knows this. And thank goodness they still make the WRX/STi and BRZ. And guess what? The BRZ isn't selling all that well anymore. We still get the Forrester XT........even though it's auto only now. So all things considered Subaru is doing well. It gives the enthusiasts some tasty nuggets but also knows what side it's bread is buttered on. They must be doing something right as they continue to set sales records. Wagons are dead in the states and hatchbacks may be soon to follow. Don't forget the huge decline in manuals too. We don't like it but those are the facts.
Feedyurhed is right, but I don't feel good saying it.
I think the WRX base model is priced right compared to other non-AWD cars in its segment. I just don't want to spend $27k to feel like I settled for something I'm not 100% happy with. With a family of 5 to cart around, I'd prefer the WRX base wagon if it was available.
Subaru last won the Manufacturer's Championship in 1997, and withdrew from WRC completely in 2008...a sport that never had widespread popularity in the US. Subaru is not going pin their hopes on a WRC tie-in when they can sell millions of cars to the mainstream. Which is a shame for us, but good for Subaru.
What they need is one motorsports fan high up in management who can secretly push cool cars out the back door to the US.

No 2.5RS 2drs or not already swapped with widebody
Love----it's what makes a Subaru a Subaru.
WTF kind of marketing push is that? It makes me want to shoot out the TV Elvis-style whenever their terrible commercials come on.
I like some of their cars--- but their marketing is horrid.
Levorg looks great. Mazda 6 wagon looks great. MT's are great. Too bad there isn't enough demand for wagons and MT's in the US.

Their marketing makes my mom and my fiance go "oh that was such a sweet commercial. What kind of car was that?"
And then I tell them, and they ask, "Are those good cars? Would I like one?" And I am forced to say yes, because they are good cars, and they would like them. (My mom doesn't ask that, because she knows that she loves them already)
The impression I have when I think of Subaru is that they're a company that used to march to the beat of its' own drum. Now they're a company that builds for the masses but wants you to think they still march to their own beat.
