I was reviewing my reservation and realized that I had my checkout set for the 1st. I then contacted the hotel and had them change it to the second, only to realize that I had no idea if there is any reason to do that. When do things usually wrap up on Saturday?
You want to be there for the banquet- Saturday night. Can go until 10 PM, and for many involves much adult beverages.
Checkout Sun morning is typical.
Check out on Sunday. You'll want to take a shower and relax a bit before the banquet. And, as stated, the banquet can go on for a bit.
One year we left Saturday night so my team teamed up with two other teams to get a room for showers and relaxing. But leaving late was too hard of a drive.

I live near Dawson, and drive through Pelham every day. Used to live near Plains- worked on a few of Jimmy Carter's properties.
