It looks quite nice, actually. I'd buy one over a Jetta, and if the price is right, over a Mazda 3. I never thought I'd say this, but GM finally made a compact car that I would buy.
They upped the power and torque of the 1.4T to 153 horsepower, and 177 lb-ft of torque, and slashed curb weight by 200 lbs. It also appears that the interior doesn't suck. What does GRM think?

I like it.
It's coming with a 1.6L TD later also!
In reply to bgkast:
It should, even if it's just to lower the base price.

Ok - make mine a 6 spd, TD with a hatch!
OR
I want a Focus RS
In reply to NGTD:
6-speed TD hatch will probably be around $6-8k cheaper than a Focus RS.

If that's not a Blipshift shirt it should be
Drove a '14 Cruze, thought the ride was great. I was always 10 mph over what I thought I was going. I was really comfortable in it. Dad has a '14 Verano, better ride quality, liked the 2.4 NA a little better.
New exterior style (grille thing only) on the '16 gonna hafta get used to. Interior looks great. Hatch FTMFW, 'bout time. Think they might have a winnah.
Seriously, want to see the hatch with Manuel. Seems like this 1.6T motor responds well to a tune (at least in the current Cruze).

The decision between a Cruze TD Hatch and a Focus RS is NOTHING about Logic and Rational thought!
One would be practical and maybe fun.
The other would be a whole pile of Yeeeehaaahhh!

The best part is the painful shift pattern.

Ooooh, a decontented 2016 Volt! How exciting.
I loved the old one, aesthetically, and just so glad these are bringing a diesel option to passenger cars. Would have a hard time buying one over a Mazda though... but we'll see when it hits the streets!
I actually saw some in camo wrap on the parkway heading towards the airport here in Pittsburgh this week. That's pretty odd because the Burgh is not exactly a hub of auto development, but from time to time I see development mules here with the funky black and white camo wraps.

Nice, might have to pencil this in as the next car since it looks like the diesel Mazda 6 wont be happening.
I really like the looks of the '16. I am a big fan of the looks of my '14, but I took exception with the refresh for '15...I dislike the grilles - the widened chrome bezels just look chinsey. I think the headlights and the thinner grilles have a clean and mean look to them in that first pic for '16.
I also have to say that interior looks great. Im not disappointed with my 2014's interior, but its kinda just ok. The shifter is good, and I overall like the layout, though the HVAC controls are kinda plain. That layout in the 16 though looks pretty solid, and i think the initial look seems well done (though, Im sure thats the XLT interior, so you need to pay some bigger bux to get that touchscreen and leather).
Overall, Im really impressed with mine. If you add the extra oomph (looks to be about 10 more ponies than mine - not sure if its a bigger turbo, or my guess is better tune) to the already pretty great ride and handling (even for a throttle and steer by wire system), I think its gonna be a winner!
Updated interior pics are available. It looks like GM has a winner on their hands.
that 200lb diet is what's gonna really please you!

In reply to NGTD: I like the styling of the current Cruze better, but this is good.
A Turbodiesel?! Sounds great! The best one will have a manual behind it.

It's already prety light and nimble...tossable is an adjective that comes to mind. The diet will really add to the overall package. Bravo GM
