I've been looking at winter tires over at tirerack.com and since the current tires on the car have about 5/32nds on them my wife has expressed the desire to put winter tires on the stock wheels and get new wheels and tires in the spring. My question to you is at 215 diameter there are only two choices bridgestone and michelin. but with original equipment there is two competitors from bridgestone, the car and the light truck choice. Also in the mix is dunlop and yokohama. Can I get a recommendation fromthe hive? Or several? I like to consider my options.

I think the last time this came up Michelin was the preferred winter tire.

I saw that thread. I live in southern Missouri and while I have always ran Altimax artics on every vehicle and just dealt with icy days, they are not available in the size I need, that I can find anyway. Per the thread you mentioned the Michelins are not snow tires but ice tires, which is great, but I really need more of a compromise of the two and dry traction is not a concern. It's for the wifes car and she does not drive like I do. We can get 6"unplowed snow and other times 1/4' to 1/2" thick ice. Are the Blizzaks a good compromise? Any experience with the rest of the winter tires? Positive or negative?

Edit: I stand corrected. the original equipment size does have the new altimax artic tires available. Still interested in experience and opinions.
