I don't think it's so much people thinking it is underpowered, it's people not realizing that it isn't the car they want.

It's like the people I see at work who say they like their (big SUV) because it has all wheel drive but they just wish it got better fuel economy, and was easier to park, and easier to climb in and out of, and was a lot cheaper to maintain. Well, yeah, you don't want a (big SUV), you want a Subaru, you just have an image in your mind that you want a (big SUV).

Same thing here. It can't do a burnout in 4th gear and it also can't tow a 12,000lb trailer or seat nine people. Those aren't the car's goals.

Your comparison isn't quite right for the 86 though. There have been plenty of people who really liked the car except for wanting more power. As in "all of this stuff is what I want, but I'd like it a lot better if this one other thing could be different."

What happened to japan being dishonored by E36 M3 like not being able to make the engine in their flagship sportscar? Shameful.

And I'm the fanboi.....

Why not get the automatic? Then you wouldn't have to do any of that pesky shifting that is troubling you.

Look up. Maybe you'll see the point that obviously went way over your head.

Have you seen a mk IV Supra lately? I saw one in traffic last week and was shocked at how pretty they look these days (as long as the wing gets left at home...). It's like these cars and similar era RX-7's look better and better all the time.

To put into perspective how quickly time marches on, when we raced the MKIV twin turbo, it was stupid fast, as in almost supercar fast. Now, it would be almost a back marker. In terms of outright speed, without the restrictions, it was easily the fastest car in the field. The new car has a lot to live up to in terms of performance.

I'd argue it hasn't aged quite as well as the RX7.

Better than the 3000GT and 300ZX though.

IMO the RX7 has aged the best. I think my (and others) thoughts on the Supra are blurred by the lust for a car that can make 1000hp without opening the motor.

I think a Z32 looks better than a MK1V Supra. Until you look in the engine bay.

+1---- the ND RX-7 was beautiful new, and IMHO even better looking now. One of the prettiest cars of the 90's. I don't think any of it's competitors have aged all that well, perhaps with the exception of the C4 Corvette--- those still look pretty good to me.

We all have eyes, but one man's beauty is another mans vomit......and all that......

I loved my mkiv Supra, but wished I had stepped up to the TT from the day I bought it. I'd like to add an MKIV TT to the stable, but at the price point they're at now there are just so many other options I prefer over them.

Yep. Passed by one the other day. It still looks like someone stepped on a jellybean and put a wing on it. Same era rx7's are gorgeous though

FD RX-7. I would argue that the NSX has aged just as well. They still look fantastic over 2 decades later.
