I wanted to participate in in the 2019 challenge and qualify for Gastropod and CAM. I bought the XJR for $2000 in 2016 and it came with 200tw tires installed . I had a coolant hose failure in 2017 that required the top of the engine to be stripped down to the valley and supercharger removal. While in there I upgraded the sc pulley.
If I reinstalled the stock pulley and bought tires would the car still qualify?
Or does the repairs I had to do disqualify me?
This will be my first year of participating in the challenge and wanted to see if I can run my XJR. If not I'll be selling it like I've been planning to.

Looks like the repairs will be exempt and four tires are exempt.

Edit ... Did you do the repairs so it's just parts or did a shop do them?
Would you be selling the xjr at challenge budget?
Pretty please? I need more depreciated foreign luxury cars with reputations of expensive failure in my life. The e39 isn't enough.

Either way, let me have a chance to buy it from you when you're done with it ![wink wink](https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/static/ckeditor/ckeditor/plugins/smiley/images/wink_smile.png)

Hey, thanks!
I did the repairs myself! A shop would charge more than purchase price to do all that work.

Lmao I don't know about all that. Im not greedy but I'm trying to buy a G Wagon! Plus, it won't be unreliable enough for you. Its had all the inherent major issues fixed by the previous owner and myself lol
Maybe I can have my excursion tow my XJR to the challenge and someone buy my truck trailer and car all at once! ![cheeky cheeky](https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/static/ckeditor/ckeditor/plugins/smiley/images/tongue_smile.png)
Hmm, if the XJR is for sale and fairly well sorted, there's a very, very high chance I'd be interested in it. Just have to figure out the getting it here from Texas part of the equation (probably a good excuse for a fly and drive).

Smaller size pulley, right? If so that’s gotta go back, but the repairs are under the new maintenance rule. The pulley would be a performance enhancement. 4 tires would be budget neutral

In reply to Patrick :
I can put the stock one back on no problem.

You're semi-joking but that would be sweet! Plus, I'm pretty sure I got you covered for the ride back to San Antonio.

Maaan that's a star aligning moment. I doubt I'll have the Ex by next October though.

My wife has specifically said that if another XJR comes up for sale in similar condition/price to the one we already own that I am to buy it as well.
So, just drive the XJR to the challenge and I'll bring it home.

So that pretty much rules out all possibilities of you ever selling me your XJR. I check the list of Craig's at least every week.

I still get emails from craigslist on XJRs. This one came up a couple days ago.
I bet you could get it for $800. If the car looked a bit nicer I would already have called.

To clarify...
You would be over budget in Gastropods with the pulley because there is no recoup allowed.
The pulley would NOT put you over budget in CAM, or in the general overall competition. You would just need to remove something from the car of equal or greater value and recoup the value.

ug. Now I want to grab the one I linked and bring it to the challenge, CAM style. Focus Robbie, focus!
Robbie How did I miss that one in my search?

I wonder if some weirdo would buy a factory CD changer (what's that, mom?) on ebay....

Can you run in CAM and Gastropods? Different tire specs would make this difficult right?
I think an XJR in either would be Awesome!

So I can't remove the aftermarket pulley and reinstall the stock pulley that I still have? If I wanted to participate in Gastropod?
There's nothing else from the car I'd want to remove at all.

I don't recall how much you bought yours

Yes you could remove the pulley and qualify for gastropods.
But I believe you're overthinking it. What if you removed the CD changer, and sold it, for the challenge. And then, after the challenge, bought another one and reinstalled it. That would more than offset the cost of the pulley. For example:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/OEM-1998-2003-JAGUAR-XJ8-XJR-XK8-VANDEN-PLAS-6-CD-DVD-RADIO-AUDIO-DISC-CHANGER-/253608557897?nordt=true&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.m43663.l10137
Sold for $106. Now, I'm not one to encourage cheating in the least. But nobody knows your eBay seller name, right? Maybe you already sold your CD changer for $106, and just happen to have bought another one and have it sitting on the shelf in the garage.

You can do that. But not at the event.
The car would qualify for Gpod class without the pulley. But you can’t use the pulley for CAM, then pull it off for Gpod. Same goes for tires. You can’t run 250 tw for Gpod, then switch to 200 for CAM.
