So I can't remove the aftermarket pulley and reinstall the stock pulley that I still have? If I wanted to participate in Gastropod?
There's nothing else from the car I'd want to remove at all.
Yes you could remove the pulley and qualify for gastropods.
But I believe you're overthinking it. What if you removed the CD changer, and sold it, for the challenge. And then, after the challenge, bought another one and reinstalled it. That would more than offset the cost of the pulley. For example:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/OEM-1998-2003-JAGUAR-XJ8-XJR-XK8-VANDEN-PLAS-6-CD-DVD-RADIO-AUDIO-DISC-CHANGER-/253608557897?nordt=true&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.m43663.l10137
Sold for $106. Now, I'm not one to encourage cheating in the least. But nobody knows your eBay seller name, right? Maybe you already sold your CD changer for $106, and just happen to have bought another one and have it sitting on the shelf in the garage.
It’s not cheating. Rules allow you to “sell” it to yourself for FMV.
You can can remove the CD, put it on the shelf, establish the FMV, and credit the budget through recoup for that amount. Then reinstall it after the event.

To clarify...
You would be over budget in Gastropods with the pulley because there is no recoup allowed.
The pulley would NOT put you over budget in CAM, or in the general overall competition. You would just need to remove something from the car of equal or greater value and recoup the value.
So I can't remove the aftermarket pulley and reinstall the stock pulley that I still have? If I wanted to participate in Gastropod?

You can do that. But not at the event.
The car would qualify for Gpod class without the pulley. But you can’t use the pulley for CAM, then pull it off for Gpod. Same goes for tires. You can’t run 250 tw for Gpod, then switch to 200 for CAM.
Okay my plan was to pull it off at home and use the stock pulley for the challenge then reinstall the aftermarket one when I got the car back to texas. That's what I've been asking.

For gastropod, there is a no recoup self imposed rule, but for CAM the challenge budget recoup rules still apply.
So, you bought the car for $2000 (full budget). In gastropod 4 tires are exempt, but need to be more than 250tw. In CAM, one set of tires is exempt as well.
Therefore, you can run both gastropod and CAM if you simply remove the supercharger pulley and go back to what was included in the $2000 sale, and buy qualifying tires.
If you're willing to run only CAM, you can easily recoup enough from your build to run the supercharger pulley if you want too.
Also, it sounds like plenty of people are interested in your xjr if you decide to sell. If you want to sell at the challenge, just let us know what price you are thinking.
I don't know how this thread got so complicated for a simple question. Hopefully this helps.

I wish I had snagged that $2k S600 in time. We could have had an XJR/S600 showdown.

Thanks! You answered my questions exactly. Or at least in a way that I understand.
All that recoup and FMV E36 M3 confuses me lol
