Someone I know of is looking at a 2020 Jeep Compass manual and I read that the 2.4 engine has some oil burning issues. Any confirmation on this? Anything else to look out for?

Every manufacturer has a different opinion on how much oil consumption is "normal". With service intervals getting longer and longer, up to 10,000 mile in some cases, 2-3 quarts is considered ok by some. 0w20 oil only makes this more pronounced. When oil was commonly changed at 3,000 miles and it used 1 quart at the time, no one though much of it. so 3 quarts in 10,000 miles is about the same rate. Of course now that good oil is pushing $10 a quart it extra annoying. Newer cars do appear to used more oil though. Low tension piston rings for less friction?
I work for a large FCA dealer and I have not seen or heard of any 2.4 engines in the 2020 M.Y with this issue. I know we have had a few 16-18 M.Y with this blown out of proportion issue.

That almost any other car in the segment is better...

You're aware that it's a Jeep Compass right?
When I looked at one I didn't think there was a big enough size difference between it and the renegade we bought but was priced higher and the engine seemed to work harder.

Wow, you can see the direct lineage to Ferrari and their F1 program.

this. Also, Honda considered 1qt/1000 miles to be normal consumption. My Tib calls 1qt every 1500 normal.
