The upcoming 2023 Honda Civic Type R is officially the fastest front-wheel-drive car to lap Japan’s Suzuka Circuit.
The record-setting lap time of 2 minutes 23.120 seconds was achieved earlier this year on March 14.
Honda promises to officially unveil the new Type R this…

Still one of my favorite in-car videos of a Honda lapping Suzuka:

3.6 mile track. Quicker than the LE by 0.873 seconds. An incremental improvement, but it is faster.
Love that Senna video. I'm always surprised at how stabby his throttle application is mid corner. I guess the important part is how quickly he gets back to full throttle- usually before the apex.

Compared to an F1 car I'm sure he's searching for response!
In reply to Robbie (Forum Supporter) :
IIRC he did that in F1 cars as well.
I guess you can get away with being more stabby when you have less than 300 hp to work with...pretty wild doing that in an F1 car though!
That Senna video is great. I didn't make it though the one about the Civic.
Initially, I was a little underwhelmed (maybe that's too strong a word - not as impressed as I thought I would) with the 0.8 second improvement. However, the previous record was with the LE with Pilot Sport Cup 2's while this is a possibly on Pilot Sport 4S tires shown in previous shots and TAS. If that's the case, then it's quite an improvement and I'm excited to see how that could translate to the Ring. Regardless, I'm just ready for them fully reveal the entire car already.
I bought a new 2011 Accord 2.4 5-speed manual and drove it for 155,000 miles.
Honda products continue to impress me since I owned that Accord. Too bad these babies are out of my price range.
That's nice but can I actually order one and expect to get it?
I'm ready to buy one of these. I'm frustrated with how Honda drags out the details and release dates of the Type-R. Then you gotta deal with the dealers who think they are selling unobtanium.
I am absolutely floored that a Honda Civic is faster around a track than a Ferrari F40. My mind is thoroughly boggled.

Same. Given how these will be short in supply compared to demand I will probably pass. Hopefully they do a 4 year run and I can jump at the end, by then demand should have gone down.

Maybe get in early? After the CTR had a year of sales my salesman told me if I bought the one they had that exact day he'd charge me only sticker.
This was before we knew $45,000 is now the used CTR price.
