I have 100% confirmed that the motivation for the Panhard will be a MZR based Miata engine, eventually growing to a 2.5L but starting off as a nearly stock 2006 2.0L 5 speed.

I am would be interested in using a long tube header but I'm not keen on the $500 Good-win piece only because of cost. Is there an alternative piece that is lower cost that isn't screwing one of our friends out of money from cribbing their design?

Chassis fitment is no longer an issue because the engine will be set behind the crossmember a bit and the frame section will be wider than the NA was originally.

Would a ND manifold work on the 2.0/2.5 head?

Weld your own. By far the best option, especially for a weirdo swap.

I was afraid that was the answer

Okay, does anyone know the exhaust flanges port to port c/l dimensions on the Duratec/MZR?

I wonder how close it is to the Small Block Ford or LS ports...

Actually I guess that wouldn't be terribly hard to adjust for either way, would it?

I would just cut the flange off of a donor header.  I have also seen where someone "deleted" the catalytic converter off of the stock header. It looked strange, but they said it worked.

Flanges are available and pretty cheap to start from.

Hit your local pick-n-pull yard and grab an exhaust gasket from an appropriate Ford or Mazda to use as a template. I've been to swap meets and compared different exhaust manifold gaskets to see what headers might be made to fit, too.

Welding up headers isn't that hard.  Get a flange and a couple of bends and cut and tack.  Weld up off the car.  Boom done.

The headers on my Seven were built off a stock exhaust manifold that I cut apart. If the MZR has a tubular manifold from the factory, this is a good option.

I made flanges for a weirdo swap. Then cut up and rewelded a set of $10 v8 headers. Used a couple of exhaust reducers and a bunch of welding for the collectors and merge.

I'm thinking that a cheap set of eBay long tubes for a LS Camaro or 11 and later Mustang look like great donors. They go for less than $120/set Flanges are $30/set use the majority of the right header as made, all of the left can be parts for bends.

More research and I think a better solution looks like a MZR flange and a sprint car weld up kit. $100 all together and still leaves room to buy a better 4 into 1 collector for $50 more. The NA came with a flashy exhaust that will be modified to run along the passenger side. Add a weld in bung and an O2 sensor cheat and I should be okay once everything is up and running, right?
