3 Tesla Execs Dead In Palo Alto Plane Crash
A twin-engine Cessna piloted by a "high-ranking official at Tesla" crashed into an East Palo Alto neighborhood today killing pilot and two other employees aboard. We don't think it was Elon Musk, but haven't heard back from a Tesla spokesperson.

How very sad. :(

Let the conspiracy theories commence.
It looks like they crashed into power transmission lines just after takeoff. RIP
Fox News reports Elon Musk was not on the plane

Was the Cesna battery powered and they over-estimated its range?
That was in poor taste as three people have died and I shouldn't be making jokes about it, but I just couldn't resist.
Funny is funny until people die. Since people have already died it's funny again.

Beaten to it. How many people will blame the oil companies?
In response to TJ...
Maybe they had the charging cable plugged in and were trying in flight refueling...
Sorry.....couldn't help it...
My condolences to their family and friends.
Wow, that's terrible. I hope this doesn't slow development too much.
I live about a mile away and I'm pretty sure I heard the crash this morning.
To me it is a very sad reminder of the sacrifices people make in order to have these high-tech startups succeed.
These guys probably didn't think twice about getting to work in Hawthorne even though it was foggy in Palo Alto.
I've seen many people here destroy their health or their relationships in order to work harder. Two different friends of mine wrecked their cars due to sleep deprivation from working all the time. The scale of work/life balance seems to be tilted quite a bit in the direction of work around here (and who knows maybe it's that way everywhere in these economic times).
On any normal day I don't know whether to condemn the Silicon Valley culture for forcing people to work so hard or applaud it for creating so much innovation and new technology. Today, I definitely think that it needs to place more value on balance, health and life.
My condolences go to their families.
I flew out of San Jose airport this morning and the visibility was being reported as 1/4 statute mile. One runway was reporting visibility of 1600 feet and when I taxiied out we could barely see 600 feet at times.
It is extremely disorienting to fly in the clouds and pilots require a lot of special training to do it safely. I'm not sure of the circumstances of their departure but they could have had a mechanical problem. Even an engine failure isn't impossible to deal with in this situation, but as we all know if you are using 100% of your skill to stay on the track it doesn't take much to end up in the landscaping.
The sad thing is the fog layer was only 700 feet thick. San Jose and Palo Alto are only 10 miles apart.

Aluminumy
Titaniumy
Magnesiumy
Lithium ion-y
I would have to go with shocking.
What's funny is that there was just a stink raised about Tesla flying private planes after accepting government money...

And another stink of the prick Musk asking Tesla to reimburse him for 12 flights he took on his own personal plane - after accepting gov't money.

Perhaps more care should be taken where you put it and/or soap afterwards?
Even little (relatively speaking) companies have rules about senior management flying on the same COMERCIAL airplane. Are we to believe that Tesla, sold to us as the way of the future, was so inept at management that they allow three senior managers to ride in the same SMALL aircraft? And we wonder why they were so late in getting anything to market?
That sucks big time, I'm sorry for their families.
Tesla so far seems to have had the best chance at making a workable electric car and I hope this doesn't stall them.
