My son is looking at 2006 350Zs. The NADA book on them are under $15k in the Seattle area. This seems like a lot of car for $15k.
Is this just normal depreciation or is there a reason why they are so low in price?
BTW, I really enjoyed drive one! FUN!!
3 years ago I paid 18,500 for a 2006 Touring with 24k miles.
Figured they would have depreciated more since then!
IMHO, they are a bargain right now.
I've had mine a while now and just started getting work done one it then I'm getting back to working on my 500 upgrades.
Good car in my opinion. If I had a son I would have him get one too.

Tim,
Is that Hella slammed or is it Hella flush? I have such a hard time remembering.

I only had it for 3 months.
The massive rear shock brace kills storage room. It was a super comfy highway cruiser, that returned decent mileage at good speed.........but it didn't take long for it to feel underwhelming.
I think the weight loss, extra HP and the other changes for the 370Z would have made it what I wanted.
I'm really hoping at some point they will make a 400Z with a nasty, high strung V8..........that could possibly make me give up a track car.

Hmm. Is that a weird camera trick? Or maybe it's supposed to look like that? Or is it just broken? Wow that looks dumb.
unfortunately there's an '01 Z06 for sale locally for $12k

I sold mine for $7500 because I had massive electrical issues nobody could figure out, not even the Nissan dealership or any local specialist. It was a 2003 and sold it in 2012. Not bad sale price for a undriveable 9 year old car.
The car until then was inexpensive to own. As if it were an Altima or something.
It was a touring model.
The electrical problems I think were unique to my car.
It was massively inconvenient as an only car. That strut bar or whatever that brace is in the trunk gets in the way all the time unless you are just getting groceries. You will not be able to fit 4 autox wheels back there. I tried. If I did it again I would go G35.

I would agree with all of this. I would like to add that the WRX I have now is much more fun a car.
I wonder if a VQ35HR car would be different at all? I don't think the 370Z is a very good car either for what you or I were looking for, i mean in sporty driving. It's also underwhelming as well where I could of liked an affordable cayman fighter (lets say, 80% that car's fun factor) it's not close to that level. The 350z though was more comparable to it's rivals at the time than the 370z is now, one of the reasons I bought it. Waiting on Hyundai to put a V8 in their Genesis paired with a better transmission (current trans is vast improvement over previous), I don't think Nissan can put a turbo V6 or V8 into a car like this and have it be affordable..... all the Japanese companies gave up on that completely.
I don't think they produce as a country a single competitive car in this segment (sporty rwd semi-luxury to luxury car), i mean not a car that equals their rivals or comes close to fighting them I mean a car that even should be considered on the same level. Even for non 2 seaters and 4 door. Look at offerings from like Lexua, the GS350 F Sport cost like $60,000, it's just pathetic. That car no wear NEAR fights sport sedans in that price range and this speaks through ALL of the Japanese marques lineup except economy cars and sporty versions of economy cars (ie. Mazdaspeed 3, Impreza WRX) which the Japanese still do well. I would bet that if europeons or americans wanted to fight the BRZ (less powerful, more reliable RX8 with better ad campaign) they could build a vastly superior car for less money, but it's the only car aside from the Miata like that. Only why it's even considered decent. All of this is only going to become more evident in coming years. I think a lot to do with it is the cost of labor in that country.
It's a good comfortable "cool" car as a DD.
It seems like a lot of the older ones near me were bought by teenagers and they all have Carbon fibre hoods and big heavy wheels. Wasn't there a rumor that Nissan was going to make a 240z , like a cheaper lighter 4cyl brz fighter? I'd get behind that
I've been thinking about one as a DD. Trouble is, I do 80 miles round trip over some fairly rough roads. I'm not interested in getting beat to death by a stiff suspension and low profile tires. How is the ride from that perspective?
I would imagine that a G35 Coupe could be had for similar money...I happen to think its slightly better looking than the Nissan, and a bit roomier as well.
