I can second that. Not a rock climber by any means, but capable off road. I miss mine. photo RC2.jpg

So what is the intended use? Just a fun offroad truck? Convert to rally use? What?

winter beater/off road vehicle. My daily commute is like 75 miles but that is what my 1.0 fiesta is for. I work IT so i kind of have to get to work in winter.

Full Size Bronco or K5 Blazer.

The TTB in the ford really isn't that weak for mild off roading. It's also an easy ish swap to a solid axle.

The K5 can be had in military garb which means diesel(slowness) and 24v electrics for fun.

Does a LS-swapped TJ still count as a Jeep? That would be my vote.

In reply to Fueled by Caffeine: Agree with everything but the slowness part. The CUCV was many things, but slow wasn't one of them. Back in the mid 80's when I was stationed in Germany an LT in my unit had an accident on the Autobahn in one, Polizei estimated her speed as over 130 MPH (220 KPH) when she left the road. I thought somebody had mixed up KPH for MPH but later found it to be true, someone had removed the governor

must have taken 700 hours to get to that speed. That non turbo diesel is a wheezing pig of a machine.

130-140 Hp.. yeeha? http://www.dieselhub.com/idi/6.2L-gm.html

I didn't believe it either, but Poiezei sure did, that LT did some civilian jail time (she may have been a mite intoxicated at the time of the accident). They were loud clattering uncomfortable pigs, but they were the fastest things in the motor pool, un-governed anyway.

My only expereince with them was a friends 94 2500 gm with the 6.2. It was reliable and good on fuel, but my 4 cylinder lifted toyota pickup would spank it in a race and I never changed the gears..

Carbs don't like steep angles and solid axle = articulation bro!

Don't want to deal with a carb and efi is better offroad. And it will be a off road vehicle so 2 solid axles>its.

Dig it.

Sounds like you want a 1985 Toyota 4x4 then. Solid axle and EFI both optioned that year.
