I have been dead for many years (family, injury) but am looking to get some swagger back.
There is a local Florida guy selling a 10ae for $6500. rollbar, maintenance records, good paint and newer top.
Is this a good deal? Like i said, I have been away from the car game for a long time now.
How many miles? All stock or newer mods? Pictures?
ya, sorry. i has 138000 miles.
All stock except roll bar.
I'd say yes. Always loved 10 AEs.
Mechanically the 10AE isn't much different from other NBs (the 6-speed was new in that car, but many later cars also had it, and arguably slightly better versions). The color and interior are pretty unique though, so if that matches what you're looking for then it's a good match.
Yes that is a good deal if you like blue. I really like them even though my NB is white.
No, you should run away from this deal as fast as possible, but give me the seller's number first...
There was an '01 on the Cars for Sale board. It was in Tampa, but the guy never responded to my inquiries. Looks like you found a good one.
That seems to be a decent price. Be aware that the six speed is a bit of a handicap for autocross due to the lower maximum speed in second gear. I preferred my six speed Miata for street driving though.
Seems like 6500$ is now a good deal on a unmolested(not a drift kid car) Miata, but it being the special model makes it even better.
also im super jealous because i want a nice un-molested NB.

im a litle handicapped now, i dont even know if I can autoX anymore. If i can, ill be slow anyways and just have fun. :-P
If I had the room, I would absolutely pay $6500 for that car if the condition is as good as the pictures indicate. The NB is my favorite Miata body style.
Honestly, if you're really interested I would not ponder it for too long.

In today's market, that's a very good deal. I'd just inspect the 10AE specific stuff very carefully. I'd wager finding a replacement blue top would be difficult, or expensive, or both

But a black top would look fine on the car. Sure, it's not concourse correct but for a DD, fun car it would be fine.

If I had $6,500 to spend on a car I would already have that in my driveway. My 10AE is the car I miss the most. While I don't regret selling it, I certainly regret that I was in the position where it had to go.
I miss literally everything about it. The only thing I would change about that car from the factory would be making the 6th gear an economy overdrive gear rather than a road-circuit gear. The car was extremely comfortable and stable at 85+ on the highway, but the gearing was such that you'd be at 3900 RPM at 70. Got kinda buzzy - but it sure did make passing easy.
Mine had the FM towing hitch, FM coilovers, Koni's, and a cat-back. I'm not certain that I'd do anything other than add the towing hitch with this one. Maybe remove the roll bar depending on how it is installed and what I was using it for.

Robins matches it pretty closely.

Before life forced me to sell mine, I was planning on experimenting to see how large diameter tires I could squeeze under the car to address this. At the time it was basically always going to be outgunned by something else in the class, but it wasn't bad on a local level and I think the lengthening 2nd's top speed a little bit via a bigger tire could have solved about 80% of the issues.
So did you buy it yet? Where's the build thread? :)
In reply to amg_rx7 (Forum Supporter) :
Im going to pick it up saturday. The thing that lets me buy this (work, boo) makes me unavailable until then. Just gotta call the insurance tomorrow, and maybe pay for a carfax(unless someone wants to spot me).
Build thread comes after I get done painting my boat, but it will be slow. Probably save, get everyhting then throw it all together. Maybe just build it to stock spec autox this time, and skip the SS2 class.
I really did miss all you guys.

Congratulations, and I look forward to the build. I might be selling my brand new Koni's and FM springs obtained from FM for a discount soon. I'm thinking of going to the Fox coilovers. They are sitting in my garage. Regardless I will follow your build thread! Had this car popped up near me, I'd have bought it too, but I got a white '00 from TN with lower miles, but I really like the blue.

You can't fit much bigger than stock size without doing major surgery on the sheet metal.
If you're not worried about SCCA rules then a 3.636 ring and pinion is available, either new from Mazda or used from the UK (I think, might be australia). That makes the 6-speed gearing work out pretty much like a 5-speed with a 4.3 plus an extra overdrive gear.
Congratulations and very cool to see a 10AE out there.

If i do anything with the rear itll be 727 gears from a b2600. Pretty sure they fit.
Im going to keep it cheap for now. maybe just do stock class.
