Does anybody know what headers will work with this car? I would assume other Olds 350 of similar vintage would fit but Summit and sites like that are listing no parts available for this particular make and model.
Cutlass headers from the same year and engine should work right? If not does anybody know of a good website that can educate me on this?
Thanks
you might have to make them yourself...i used vista cruiser wagon headers for my olds and it was abitch to get those in and out at times....if you can weld and willing to spend the time fabing a set it would be your best bet. i used a grant gt sterring wheel, a BM starfire floor shifter, nascar style black rimes and pulled all the trim off the sides and duel exhust. i also went with the front seats out of a 2004 dodge srt 4....they keep you in the seat...they suck for any long driveing for sure. i also ran a 600cfm 4 barrel and stirped the air and most of the smog gear from under the head also...made it much easier to work on at times. went after market raditor, with trans cooler....i would suggest a lsd if nothing else..it can be fun to autocross something that big though.....the look and comments from people is worth it.....
don't know where you are located, but did you buy this car? the craigslist ad was removed, maybe I overlooked it but how much was it and how many miles? I had a 79 just like it, it was fine until I blew it up.
In reply to plance1:
Yes I did buy it. It has 80k miles. Got it for $1000. Insurance is $13 for 6 months.
I don't know how to weld and my fabrication skills in general are lacking so I will not be making my own headers. Does anybody know if G-body headers will fit or if not what is in the way? I'm having a hard time finding info on this.
In other news a customer of mine has a Chevy crate 350 with spun bearings. He said he would sell it to me for $150. How much $$ money do you think it would take to get it back in running condition?
Thanks for all the help and replies!
Nick
I bet A-body headers fit that beast. I know they fit in 2nd gen F-bodies!
Oh, and another word of advice: Be VERY careful when removing those manifold studs. On my Olds 403 that used to be in my Trans Am, every single one snapped. I had to pull the heads and have them all tapped and heli-coiled. That was expensive, and it sucked.

Now stop that kinda talk, or you'll have me looking for one.
Whitewalls are the way to go.
Dual exhaust? Unless it has a dual-hump crossmember it won't be easy, and side pipes would just look wrong on a four door Delta.
for wheels: if you can find a set of 4 "rear" Trans Am GTA wheels they look killer on that body style. actually, they look good on any body style.. a set of common and dirt cheap 225/60/16 tires will even keep your speedo right on.. might be able to find 4 "rears" fairly cheap from Grand National guys that buy up 2 sets to get 4 "fronts" for their cars.
Stan, I will be glad to look at the car with you if we can do it when I'm not working, have you requested pics yet?
frenchy wrote: Do it Stan! It's a pace car! Only 700 made! You have to do it.
My research showed over 2,000 made which puts it in the TR8 category and I like small cars -especially with V8s -better than BIG cars. If it had a 4 speed (doubtful) I still might be tempted.
Definitely cool though.
IF I go have a look-see, I'll let you know plance!
You know, I really should get some sort of Olds at some point for my 1970 455/TH400 combo that I have kicking around. This thread reminded me that I have those. I completely forgot!

I wonder how much that setup's worth? I could always sell it to get out out of your hair.
I had my 455 and turbo 400 from my first 69 delta 88 sitting around in my basement since the mid 1980's... I recently sold the engine, it was hard man, it was hard.
