I've been looking at 2000-2005 celica gts' as a replacement daily driver.

Which year is generally considered to be the best? Anything in particular to look for? How's maintenance? MPG?

The best years are probably the non DBW years with the higher rev limit. I believe that would be 00-01. (Maybe 02)

The rev limit was back up for 05 but it was DBW. (Ways around it, so not a deal breaker.)

The main failure point with these was shift forks, some cars have had a "money shift." Likely not a problem if you're looking at cars that run well.

Maintenance is gravy. MPG should be pretty decent. 30mpg combined if you drive sanely.

I wouldn't REALLY worry about the year. Just get the nicest one you can afford. Any of the negatives of some of the years can be overcome relatively simply. But because i'm lazy, i'd personally look for an 00-01.

Yep i'd pay that if it were as clean as it looks. Bonus points for fully loaded and black on black. I only like these in black, silver, gray, and that awesome blue they came in.

Thought about a 6th gen? Not as exciting, but cheaper, possibly even more bulletproof, and still somewhat easy to find in minty shape.
