New to the toyota scene. I'm thinking of buying a 82 corolla wagon 3tc with an automatic. I don't know all the engine codes or transmission codes. I'm thinking of a manual transmission swap but don't which trans to go with or what parts I will need or if it is even possible to swap them out. Could someone help this greenhorn out? Would also like to turbo charge the car at a later date. I have the chance to purchase a spare engine. Would be a great time to build the extra engine while driving the car. Thanks
another '79-82 corolla for the 5sp parts you need. what's the question exactly? That's a fine car. I went through three of them in high school.
I keep reading something about a T50 transmission. I don't know if that's what I need. Do you know the transmission identification code? Looking for the transmission that will bolt directly up. Also where can I find turbo parts? Thanks
you'll want to find the whole car in a yard or something so you can get the pedal assembly etc. it's the bits and pieces that will kill you.
the t50 is the manual trans that they put in every berkeleying thing in those years, so the trans will be a piece of cake to find but as mentioned, youll still need all the corolla specific bits
Pop the hood find the vin tag on firewall or inner fender well.
Under the vin is smaller leter imprinted engine/trans/axle codes.
