I used to have a Chalon 914. Love them when they are done well. But my dream 914 is a Sheridan bodied one, like I built for a friend of mine back in the '90s. Very similar to this one:

There's a guy around here who runs a 914-3.2 at track days around here. The only noticeable body modification (aside from an awful rear spoiler) was rounding the wheel arches. It makes a huge difference in the look of these cars.

I REALLY like that white one! Very clean-looking nose.

We also had an occasional customer with metal-worked rear flares on his track 914 and they looked even better than 916 flares while also being more subtle.

I like everything that has been posted so far. I'm not saying a stock 914 is ugly, but for some reason 914's just look good customized.

shame.. I like the wheel arches on the 914.. especially with factory or factory like flares.

I remember reading about the Sheriden bodies. very very cool stuff

Dang it. I'm about to cry. I bought a 914 about 15 years ago. Not a spot of rust, 47,000 miles. 911 parts on it, great car. Then some dude talking on a cell phone creamed me in an intersection when he ran the light. Again, dang it.

Wait, are you in the Northeast? Black 914 with a carbon wing on tall stanchions, and a front splitter, clear front corner lamps?

Nope. White, maybe some red trim and a Mitsubishi Eclipse rear spoiler.

Winston wrote: Woody, here's a Chalon kit for you: http://houston.craigslist.org/cto/4728110378.html The car has been for sale on the Houston CL FOREVER... the guy has been re-posting it for at least a year. IIRC, it started out around $8k; looks like we're under $4k now, and accepting cash offers :) Still not cheap enough for my taste, since I'm not a big fan of the kit.

I would Porscharu the E36 M3 out of that thing.

Thumbs down. I'll take a regular 914-6 but not that.

Just poking around in Photoshop, this might make a nice 914 project, I already have the oval window roof clip, but not the skill set to complete the car:

My first two 914's were going the way of the 916 look. Although I do like the Challon kit. In my mind it was the way to go with a 914 to look similar to the 930 slant nose at the time. Add that to a nice 2.8 litre 911 six and you have a great light-ish weight track car that is not seen very often. However, now I will take my 924 and look for the D-production body panels to update it and give me some bigger rubber.

I still long for my 914s. They are a great handling car.

My thoughts on my 914 was to buy the 'glass 916 bumpers and cut them up and reshape them to fit as a spoiler for the front chrome bumper. Would have been the best of both worlds. Better looks and performance while still keeping the (marginal) protection of the stock bumper

"damn this thread...."

I know just what you mean; it's like it's 1984 all over again and I'm looking through the Mitcom catalog and just making a list. Hell, I still have two 916-style front and rear valances, fiberglass rocker panel covers, ABS plastic "PORSCHE" rocker panel covers, four 914-6/916-style fiberglass fender bulges/flairs, two racing seats, custom gauge panel, Momo steering wheel w/adapter, and a "PORSCHE" rear panel reflector down cellar collecting dust.

Might well be that time again. Already owned four of them, but a 914 is always a welcome addition to the driveway, now isn't it?

Think I'll throw on the Miami Vice sound track and head down cellar, just to look at the stuff . . .

I kid. Everything in this thread is amazing, though.

A little more quick and dirty Photoshop fun. Seems like the 914 looks terrific with a Karmann Ghia roof transplant, coupe and cabrio. But makes an even better Ol' Skool Gasser . . .
