what can I do to a Prizm to make it go??
it's a 94.... so you have some options. I've seen em swapped with a 7afe single cam, and turbo'd. Apparently the parts are out on eBay (I haven't looked, the last thing I need is another turbocharged E36 M3pile). AE101 chassis was also the last time you could fit a 4ag in it.... and the performance mods are well documented. There was limited TRD support for that chassis, so if you can find Corolla bits from the same gen (93-97) they should bolt right up.

That'd be interesting... how does one make a 7afe single cam?
You can do pretty much anything to it. What do you want to do?
The 7AFE is a twin cam motor.
How fa$t do you want to go? 4AGE 20 valve will bolt in. Or turbo what's there, or put a 4AGZE supercharged motor in, or make a 7AGTE 20 valve turbo, or swap in a 3SGTE or ... push it out the back of a C130.
Seeing as how it's only the swap of 1 letter for 1 number away from gods own motor you know what must be done.

Rally-cross.
I had wanted to use the engine and trans for my challenge car but it seems to good to hack up. Maybe I'll just make two challenge cars....then maybe at least one will finish...
Apologies for my shortness, I just couldnt resist. My AE101 with the 1.6 was honestly the funnest car I ever owned (out of 4) - if only for the presence of a third pedal and a crisp clutch. A very little bit of prodding helped increase throttle response noticeably (short ram intake, fresh plugs and wires, 4-2-1 header with fiberglass tape, axleback fart cannon) and made it that much more fun. I understand advancing the timing a few degrees emphasizes this effect, the only shortcoming is you must keep 93 octane in it. With bushings, springs and some tokicos, you could have a fun car for sure.
I also wanted to get a bigger intake cam and bump overlap with an adjustable gear as I read that the 4 and 7a motors like overlap. Apparently they also benefit from lightening the valve train with aluminum retainers. Beware of crank pulleys that have aged - they separate as they are 2 pieces with a rubber busing in between to absorb vibration - the rubber shrinks as it ages and the 2 pieces slide apart and will eat belts QUICKLY - as in a day.
Yes...but if you want to be competitive, youll almost definitely have to swap in the 4ag and boost it, remove EVERYTHING from the interior that isnt essential, and dial in the suspension meticulously. They do have macpherson strut suspension, so there is room for advancement. I can say you can get the thing to rotate pretty well without much hassle if you are smooth with steering input...found that out on accident one day . Pics are mandatory if anything comes of this build idea!
I loved my AE92 Corolla with the 4afe. Probably because it was my first car and I beat it to death. Nothing like handbrake slides around corners in a $500 car that has pieces of the body falling off every day.
picked up the Geo last night, jumped the battery and varoom, started right up. The a/c even works, another sight unseen, no inspection, online score.
I have a set of oh-E36 M3 handles from a Corolla that I got for my Prism if you're interested in a big upgrade.
If mine was a 5sp I would have kept it. Fun in a very stupid way. Like the way I didn't have to ever work on it and it always ran.

Not sure where you'd go for that car.
But someone posted up a full Silvertop swap here yesterday. You should buy it.
You'll need to log in to post.
