Hey guys,
Here is a video of changing the timing belt without removing the crank pulley. So no need for a flywheel lock or Allen key in the passenger side hole of the bell house. I searched for a direct video but couldn't find one so I made one to share.
Note:This is for the timing belt only, not the water pump which does require the removal of the crank pulley.
Also, the video shows the installation of reference sensors and the first startup of my $400 944.

Nice job! That was exciting to hear it run!
Nice. Didn't know you could change timing and balance shaft belts without a lock

Tell me about it. Hopefully I'll be plastic dipping in no time.
I have the lock and never have used it. I wedge a large screwdriver in between the flywheel and the bell housing locking it in to a tooth. I also mark things with a paint pen. Done so many this way I don't know any other way. I also have never used a belt tention tool. Always use the twist method and yes I have a belt tension tool as well. Again if you do enough of these you just get a feel for it.

Love it. I'll try the screw driver method when I have to do the water pump.

Very nice thanks for the help sir. I needed that!
Whenever I've had to lock the engine on a manual transmission car, I'd just put it in 5th gear and apply the parking brake or have someone push on the brakes. It's worked every time.
This is a Porsche the E-brake only worked on the showroom floor.

You can quote my post and then cut and paste the code section of it that links the video and then edit your first post and past the code there and I would then delete my post and. . . .. Ya I am over thinking this.
Just watched all your videos so far, very cool. And I think you're local to me (SE Michigan).

Thanks, Yep I'm in Ann Arbor
So I think I have the fuel issue figured out. I've researched the issue and made an Animated whiteboard. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Thanks
