I have a 1995 suburban with a TBI 350. My newest issue with the truck is sometimes it won’t start. It happens at random when it’s hot or cold. I’ll go to start it in the morning or after driving it for a while and it will just crank but not start. It does not even try and catch. Now I hear the fuel pump working, and the cap, rotor, wires, plugs, and coil are all new from a tune up I did 3 months ago. I’ve tried removing the air cleaner to look for fuel and went to test for spark but the 2 times I tried that the truck started. When it does start it starts without issue and runs fine. Also when I have the issue it will randomly fire up after trying for 1-10 minutes and has yet to leave me stranded. Any ideas or common problems?
Also, there is a 900% increase in probability that it exhibits this issue when I'm driving it.
Seriously, this issue is both baffling and extremely annoying. Someone please help him!!!
Also cycling the key a few times to try and build fuel pressure does not help and giving it throttle makes no difference.
Disconnect the MAP sensor? The truck liked that on the way to the challenge.
I was having a similar problem with my wagon. Changed the HEI module, no more problems.
Ignition module is my guess as well. Once it heats up it shuts down.
3 for module. Use good heat sink grease from Radio Shack when you replace it...it'll help.
Normally when I have issues with modules the vehicle is warm. I have the same issue even its been sitting overnight. I'll see if I have a spare I can swap in just to give it a shot.
Any thoughts on oil pressure switch?
