Senna also prevented Derek Warwick from joining him at Lotus meaning he missed out on his best shot in a front running car. Instead the drive went to Johnny Dumfries (AKA John Crichton-Stuart, 7th Marquess of Bute) a nice but really outclassed guy who had done nothing in the Junior formula. from what i saw in the movie, he was in such bad shape after the Brazil race because his car was broken pretty much the whole race and he had to literally wrestle it thru every corner.

another obligatory Dale Earnhardt comparison, from 1996:

I know that earlier I placed Senna and Schumi in the same class. I did however fail to add one other world class driver that never one a championship, who was also taken away from the racing world too soon. That community member of car control. Canadian Gilles Villeneuve.

To be able to control the car the way those guys did was truly a site to behold. I am glad I was able to witness it. Yes Senna did some things that were not great, as did Schumi (stopping in the tunnel at Monaco during Quali!! but to finish first you first need to finish. Right?

Just saying.

Love this open forum.

No, I lived through the era, he was great then and is still the best I ever saw. Any driver who does not think he is capable of miracles is destined to mediocrity, Senna was not mediocre
