Triple green, in fact. Not a "Thing" thing, a 1979 Ford Granada. Green on green on green. 250 straight six, automatic with A/C(not working ). Needs a good detail. 16" Police Interceptor wheels are the only mods. Plan is to fix the A/C, find some bell bottoms, and go cruisin' for disco chicks
Reminds me of my old Zephyr - Straight six, no power, and a funky roofline.
I dig it.
Cool old car, I remember them to be quite the gas miser for what they were.
Yes! Another oddball Fox body!

So I take a 5.0 swap with a T5 and all kinds of Mustang suspension bits is in the works?

Not quite. Its actually Maverick/Mustang/Falcon based. Fox body Granadas came in 1981.
Weren't these also tagged as Merc Monarchs?

And Lincoln Versailles. The Lincolns had a 9" rear with disc brakes that was the holy grail for Mustang guys 20 years ago. In fact a wrecked/rusty Versailles used to be the easiest path to a V8 drive train and 4 wheel discs for an early Mustang.
And I thought all granadas had been crushed by monster trucks in the eighties..
Cool car man, drop a turbo 300 in it!

You know, I wouldn't have been caught dead in any mid to late 70s era domestic car (with the exception of the '78 on B-bodies from GM) back in the day. I even turned down a free '76 Mercury Cougar with a 351 in it. But now, I'm all nostalgic about them. The "styling" is actually quite interesting on most, even if they reflect similar design philosophies.
Glad this one was been saved by an enthusiast. It is, what it is :)

Ross approves this thread.
If you don't already know about Clifford Performance 6=8, you should.
I bought one of those 6 months after I graduated from university. Straight six,3 speed manual,no power steering or power brakes, each door weighed as much as my Datsun 510. The really scary part was that I thought it was a pretty cool car. I eventually put front springs from a V8 Mustang (I think) and added a leaf to the rears to get it to handle a little better.

A friend had a Granada ESS when we were in high school. Straight six with a three speed manual on the floor.
We were able to tell the difference....
very cool.. maybe not the best car in the world.. but worth saving.. especially by an enthusiast

JD... I want to drive this thing before you part with it.
it's funny.. this thread pops.. and one of my neighbors puts a yellow(ish) with a white vinyle roof 4 door out for day for $250
it's it worth more as scrap?
Like great find , I hear tell babies get made in the back seats of those . or at least the process . NICE Grill
silly ad should have said:
"Look how we poorly attempted to copy a car 4-5x as expensive!"
Still a groovy car. I thought about trading for one a while back...but I decided against it for some reason.
And after the monster trucks were done crushing them...or before...the front brakes and such all got used to perform 5 lug swaps on originaly-6-cylinder Falcons (and Mustangs)
Clem
Should be the last vestige of original falcon/mustang suspension and steering under the front of that car.
I'll be replacing almost every bushing that makes that suspension work in my 68' Fairlane this weekend.
Same wheels too.
