I live in Jacksonville, but sometimes see ads in the Gainesville and St. Augustine CL that look interesting, but have no ideas on where to get a pre-purchase inspection done in either city. Any recommendations? Any places that should be avoided at all costs? As a AAA member, I guess I should just ask them?
Any used car dealers in either city to avoid?
I would be able to recommend a few shops for a PPI in Gainesville. I'd also always be willing to go eyeball a car for you, so you could at least have a first hand impression.
As for used car dealers, I haven't dealt with any, but I have heard good things about Southeast Car Agency and Tomlinson Motor cars. Both generally deal in late model, off-lease mainstream cars.

Bought our truck from Southeast Car Agency 4 hrs ago. Very easy to deal with ( NO pressure at all) and have had no problems. They seem to have mostly off lease cars and ex-rentals (truck was ex-enterprise, but you wouldn't be able to tell).
I went down there over the weekend and as always cruised past Popular Imports. Something about oddballish cars at wholesale prices.... But don't really have 1 or 2 cars (or trucks) in mind at the moment.
Found out today that Gainesville is supposed to have a Trader Joe's, if so, the Jacksonville area must wait about 13-15 more months before we get one, and it will be at the beach.
