So i will be participating in the rallyx this weekend, and will be sharing the car with another driver. This will be our second event. In our first we both ran in SF class. This had us doing the driver swap thing, which works, but not having to do that seems like it would be better. What im considering is one of us registering in SF and the other in PF. I assume that the classes are split into the two groups the day of the event based on the number of cars in each class, so we may still end up in the same group and having to switch drivers, but there is a 50/50 chance we that we dont. Is this a solid plan, or is there a reason not to? It should be noted that we arent really competitive in either class, we are mostly racing each other, though since he was faster our last time out i would probably put him in SF since he would have a better chance at doing well. Thoughts?

I've seen that done before, so I don't see a reason not to do it. I once saw a PF car run in both PF (with 2 drivers) and MF (with a 3rd driver).

Happens all the time. The classes will get broken up based on a number of things (workers who know how to do specific things, course conditions, cars running in multiple classes, number of two-driver cars) and in the end, trying to keep a similar number of entrants in each group. Let Evan know what you're trying to do on Saturday morning and he'd probably split the two classes if there's no other reason not to.

Depending on the site you might not be able to really race each other being in different heats because of course/condition changes between runs groups.

Letting the organizer know in advance is always preferred if you have a heat request because at least for me since we have mostly preregistered drivers at our events I have the groups split up in advance and only make changes the day of if we have a large change in our heat numbers from walkups/no shows.

Being flexible about your second class can also help. So if you are willing to run it in either PF or MF as long as it is in the other heat let them know.

Wreck Racing has run 4 drivers in our BMW before, two in SR, and two in PR, so that everybody can drive. Every rallyx I've been to has had one heat for stock, and one heat for everybody else, so your odds are pretty good.

Looks like we currently only have one driver each in SF and PF so we could likely split them into two different heats without issue. Just remind me on Saturday because I will likely forget.

The last 2 events I have been to one had one heat for modified and one for all others and the other had one for MA/MR and one for all others. At both the modified heat was the larger heat. But DC area has a few more MR drivers than most other areas.
