A lens in the 100-300 range is on the list to buy. I just need to decide if I'll use it enough to justify spending the big money on the better quality.

I'm a little bit 'all over the place' right now.  But, once I get settled in a bit, I'd be happy to loan you my 70-300mm to try out before you make a decision, if you'd like.

Came to suggest the K-70 and 18-135 and the DA 50 1.8 to go with for portraits and low-light work.  Not sure where you've ended up, looks like Sony E-mount land?  Not a bad place to be but their crop bodies never really did it for me based on reviews and such.  To each their own of course.  Sony would be good for video, generally speaking, which is not really a Pentax strength.  Weather resistance and in-body image stabilization is (among other aspects).

I've been in the Pentax camp for a long time, and I'm probably biased, so grains of salt etc.

Thanks for the offer, I may take you up on that.

In reply to pres589 (djronnebaum) :

I didn't buy a crop body, the A7ii is a full-frame body.

While the K-70 would have worked with the few Pentax lenses I have, it is a crop body and I wanted a full-frame sensor. The K1 looks to be a great camera but was more than I wanted to spend.
