I'm day dreaming for a project. I was thinking how those funky spinning triangles are pretty neat. But how I'd like to put it something that's just doesn't seem like it should have a rotary.
I've seen rotary Karmann Ghias, E30's, 924's
Something where a passerby might ask "wut would you do that?" But then ask "why didn't I think of that?"
Built to no particular purpose, just a project to put a rotary where it doesn't belong and be a hoot when it's done.
Anything FWD? Mazda Protege5? Last gen Celica?

This one.
My buddy loves Fox Bodies, I love Rotaries, we drank beer, then that idea came about.
Oh and Rotary Delorean

I've already done this swap in my head a few times over. It is a near perfect class killer in the lower tire limited outlaw drag racing classes. Most of the allowed 4 cylinders get boost PLUS nitrous. on top of that Freddy Brown makes a nice adapted Powerglide to a rotary.....
My other one is an 83-88 Ranger or 1st gen S10, only if I don't have to replace every cab corner and body panel on the S10.
I love rotaries...for racing. I went to go watch Star Trek the other day and Mazda had an ad talking about the 787B. Awesome stuff!
With that said. Bridgeport Midget (My FIL has a great example for this).

In reply to fanfoy:
I could see a 12A fitting in there nicely enough

You know, a quick internet search turns up no definitive proof that this has ever been done...
YOU ARE GIVING ME BAD IDEAS.
I want to take an LS engine out of a Vette and replace it with a rotary.

that is the norm down in Puerto Rico.
Also, I've been tempted to make one of these with one:
as the hand-me-down rotarys from the rx7 when I'm through with them in the car, put them in the sled! It would be a good final send off for each motor.
An Exocet with a 20B has a certain ring to it.

I've long sworn that if (and/or when...) the PRV in mine bites the dust that I will be replacing it with some Magic Dorito Power. I figure I'll be using a Renesis out of an RX-8 though- the Cosmo's 20B is an AWESOME engine, but much harder to come by and far less efficient.
Interesting bit of DeLorean trivia: the DMC-12 was originally slated to be powered by a rotary engine a company in Europe was developing, but when the company failed to deliver DMC was forced to seek an alternate powerplant in the milquetoast (at least in the form it was used in the DMC-12) PRV.
Idea? Did it.
Mid engined Miata.

The ringing in your ears after driving it?
AMC Pacer. Another car that was originally designed to be rotary powered, in this case using the GM rotary program that they couldn't get past emissions.
Other ones that make sense, but don't make sense:
- Ranger based REPU.
- Mazda 929. 1991 and earlier ones shared a platform with the Cosmo.
- Jeep based sand drag contraption.
- Amphicar
- Early Mercury Capri
- or fox body Mercury Capri
- Citroen DS
- Track T street rod

I want a Miata with a 13B, not sure what type of reliable power they can make NA for track work though.
In an Exocet that would be a riot!
