You know, I really like this wagon but the towing capacity is only 1,000 lbs. Does anyone have one and has towed more capacity because, maybe, they're being really conservative on the numbers? Or, is it really only 1,000 lbs because of,,,,,,chassis, engine, trans, whatever? Any insight on these things?

Weak aluminum subframes front and rear, coupled with a weak drivetrain in a 3500lb car with brakes that are barely adequate for it's weight empty. I wouldn't want to drive one with 4 people in it, let alone trying to tow.

Honda really screwed the pooch on this one. So many good things COULD have happened with it and instead we got the watered down, underpowered"thing"

honda auto trans alone is reason enough not to tow anything at all...

That's really too bad because it looks like a nice alternative to an SUV

1600kg braked http://www.nationwidevehiclecontracts.co.uk/Honda_Accord_Tourer-24_iVTEC_EX-37273.htm?pl=t Click on "technical" and then scroll down to "weights and capacities"

In the US, manufucacturers persuade people to buy an SUV if they need to tow when in reality, it is common to tow with a station wagon over in Europe. In fact, the Jaguar XF was named "tow car of the year" for 2012. How many Jag XFs have you seen towing stateside?
