Folks,

I just test drove a '09 TSX. 70k Miles. 2.4l Auto.

Nice car.

Does anyone have one of these cars? Anything to look out for?

TIA,

Rog

I wasn't going to comment since I own an 06 which is the older body style. But since no bites yet here goes...

My wife has put over 200K on ours (it's a manual) and the 2.4 has been bullet proof. Never been back to the dealer; it has a timing chain. I've changed the plugs twice and obviously the oil with synthetic only. In fact beside one rear wheel bearing the entire car has been bulletproof.

The 2.4 takes premium which I have always used. The 09 was the first year for that body style so there may be some first year teething pains but since I don't own the car I don't know.

We will probably be in the market to replace in the year or so. The new ILX with the same drive train should be a no brainer for us as a replacement but I just can't get past the styling.

We have an '04. First model year. It only has 55k on it, bought it new. It had an HID light fail that was replaced under warranty. I paid the dealer to replace a lock actuator while it was in for a minor recall. I replaced a coil a couple weeks ago. I've done brakes in all 4 wheels. Other than oil changes, that's it. It still looks new despite being driven every day and being parked outside.

It burns a minor amount of oil, so I need to check it since I pretty much only have to change the oil once a year due to mileage.

Other than those minor issues, it has run like a top and is very pleasant as a DD.

09 is the first year of hte bloated body style. We had a lot of little quality issues with the early ones. Simple things like spot welds missing and such.

Those 2.4's are worse than the older ones in regards to oil usage. No idea why. So keep an eye on the oil level between changes. I'm not particularly fond of that body style, but if it floats your boat go for it.
