Kinda cool, but they should've released this when the NSX was still new or put the new Integra in it since the main character is leaning on a DC2 in the opening.

Like Toyota using Initial D for the GR86

Hilarious they did this. I love anime. I love Japanese cars. I love Japanese culture. But I can't afford a new Acura tniLxtegra. Honda's bloated fleet makes me run away and cry in my pillow.

they must have some kind of weird sales information saying "people that watch anime, want Acura brand products and can afford it." This reminds me of Scion. They tried similar stuff to get young buyers interested. It resulted in young people saying "yeah I know about scion, but I can't afford one". Frugal old people ended up buying them to putt around in and then young people said "eww, I'm not buying one now".

scion got Buick'd.

Scion got geo'ed Buick is still around (barely). Scion had other issues with regards to R&D as it pertains to the product line and branding, but that's for another thread. The good news is that Toyota basically realized that normies don't want caray, they want crossovers and SUVs and anyone who opts for a car is doing so for the driving experience (to some degree) or for efficiency, so they started pumping out more power, though their chassis dynamics lag behind a bit. The current Camry is far from nimble, but you can't look at it and not recognize that the Camry, fwd and all, has morphed into a sports sedan. Whether or not it's a good one is debatable, but it certainly is one. Once the Corolla GR arrives, they'll have a solid stable of fairly engaging cars in their lineup, all with a higher profit margin than the Scion lineup ever carried. If Scion had to die to make that turn of course a reality, then it was well worth it, as the only model that is to be missed is the first gen xB.

Scion got buick'd in the sense that young people saw old people driving them and then no longer wanted to buy them.
