At an ask of $2,800 it's over the $2013 forum limit, but very affordable. Appears to have modest needs but SO worth it for Ronal Pentas and sleek euro bumpers and lights. Dunno how "real" it is, but the AMG dress up bits are appear period-correct. C'mon, dooo eeeet.

It looks like a real euro spec car, and at least the body kit looks like a real Amg kit, so yeah, that looks like a decent deal.
... always Atlanta ain't it
Almost looks like a Gen 2 w126 euro, think I heard they weren't approved for importation into the US as mercedes worked to shut down the grey market import cars. Rare car if a real generation 2 w126 euro with proper import documentionation. I think the eurospec 5.6l engine is high output but I don't know for sure.
My brother had a 86 grey market 560sec AMG. It was a beast and I wish I would have acquired it from him when he sold it. They look so "RIGHT"!
Other than the bright work round the door handles that has much want. What are the vitals on those?
I so want that but my wife would kill me. She is insistant that the next car be alot more modern. The funny part is she already oked 06 ish s500 but that car would not fly.

That is still a gen 1. You could get the airbag steering wheels on gen 1 cars, just most of them dont have them. It does look like a euro spec car though, euro bumpers and lights, headlight switch with height adjustment, etc.

I am strangely tempted to convert my rust-prone finicky Italian into this electro-hydraulic nightmarish German

They are really not scary at all. I have been driving a similar (but 4 door diesel) car for almost 2 years and its really well made and easy to work on. Id say do it lol.
Anyone local wanna check it out? I just showed this to my buddy and he now has a serious case of "do want"

I wish. 230 miles from Atlanta.

The only thing scary here is the extreme precision these cars were built to, and expected to be maintained at. The service manual instructs you to weight the wheel bearing grease. The timing chain hasn't got an interval, you check its stretch using a dial indicator. Everything makes sense, nothing is out of place. The W126 is the epitome of MB, their best chassis.
I'd definitely want to run the vin through mercedes classics sight. The car itself is just w126 euro(probably) If not gen2 not really all that interesting. It has an amg badge and some body work but unless you pull the valve cover you don't know if it is a real amg engine. Euro w126 aren't really all that special I hate to say. The thirst of the m117 is a killer.
Upon further inspection looks like the car car 16x8 pentas which won't fit the gen2 cars unless very specific size and offset.
That is my favorite big modern GT coupe.

There comes a price point where it really doesn't matter whether it's genuine. Even the stock 560 is fun to drive and it certainly looks wicked.

Would this one require premium fuel? I'd bet it woudl make my old Range Rover look like a fuel mizer in comparison. Still, for a $2500 or so buy-in, it could be a lot of fun in short bursts...
I get about 20mpg on 93 octane in my 560SEL.
I'd bet midgrade would be fine. Definitely run the VIN to check the car before getting too interested. Also if the car is eurospec I'd want to check the import docs to make sure the car is easily registerable. Depending to where a car is registered there are different grades of modification from nothing to having to add emissions stuff and bumpers/lights. Really weird how the federalization process works.
I'm not all that familiar with the w126 so thats all I know.
In reply to benzbaronDaryn:
'85 shouldn't have any problems with registration because it is >25 years old.
