1) What cars that came from the factory with Box-Flares are actually affordable, or rather, provide a good value (aren't so unreliable and rare as to be unpleasant to own) in 2021? The recent sale of a E30 M3 for six figures makes me think these cars (ones with unique fender panels) are becoming a dying breed. This can be any car that got special fenders with flares from the factory.

2) What cars aesthetics are massively improved by READILY AVAILABLE fender flare kits? Box Flares make everything look better, but they aren't readily available for every car, either. Not talking about hack jobs fitting random flares to a car or rolling/stretching fenders. Thinking of Duncan or Maier Racing fender kits for Fox Body Mustangs, or Live to Offend's E30 kits. Criteria - they must actually allow significantly wider track or wheels.

Came here to say Starion/Conquest until I read "aren't so unreliable and rare as to be unpleasant to own". Oh well.

In reply to obsolete :

I was going to suggest the same and offer him my Conquest (for free) that's sitting outdoors in Perris California. I just gave away like $1000 of parts I had for it to a random person. But, they are rare, unreliable, and a PITA to own.

This is GRM. "Affordable" is a sliding scale from "what do you mean I have to put gas in it" to "only 50% the price of the nicest E30 M3 in the world".

But I'm here for the Festiva. If all you need is box flares, you cannot argue that it is not affordable.

I came here to suggest yupididit's free StarQuest.

Since that doesn't meet the criteria:  A Jeep - take your pick.

I mean even making them have a great power to weight ratio is a simple B6T swap away.

The Problem with the Jeep and Festiva is that those were base models with the same fenders as every other model.

Notice I said "This can be any car that got special fenders with flares from the factory."

I would not call the Festiva or Jeep flares "special" when comparing them to the rest of their model packages.

Ok.  02-07 Subaru?

Porsche 944 is suitable flared compared to the 924 it's based on.

02-07 WRX/STi compared to base Imprezas.

Fox body Mercury Capri RS is flared as well, but good luck finding one.

C6 Corvette Grand Sport / Z06 / ZR1 is heavily flared compared to a base Vette, though not boxy.

C5 FRC and Z06 Corvettes have the unique body/roof like the E30 M3 does.

You said "can be", not "has to be". I stand by my submission as meeting the rules of the game!

Someone might make boxes for the rear of a wagon.  I know you can put sedan fenders on the wagon, as well as the sedan control arms.

Those are not box flares.  Box flares move the whole half of the fender out, resulting in no lip.

I agree you met the required parameters. Do I want on, no. would I drive one, absolutely. Would i want to hop one up... not me, but I wouldn't turn a hopped up one down!

I'm an ol' hot rodder / scooter tramp. I thought I knew what a factory box flare is. But maybe not...
