+100 to all of this

the thing that kills it for me.. is the body "kicking up" towards the roof at the back. It breaks the flow of the car. The original 510 didn't have that

it has fender flare rivets. even though the fender flares are molded into the fenders. After saying the BRZ is a midlife crisis car, Nissan comes out with the 14-year-old comic book car?

Let's be optimistic, here. Maybe they are trying to continue the corporate styling cues that are evident in the Frontier?

I'll join the minority, and say I think it looks awesome. I'll even forgive the CVT if it's reasonably priced and the rest of it doesn't suck.

I will only forgive the CVT if there's a stick shift available. I don't mind the looks, but I do mind not being able to get a stick in a car.

Thinking about a lightweight Japanese sportscar, the last thing that comes to my mind is 19" wheels.

Like some others are saying, I'll wait to see the production version. I'm not very excited about it though.

Cars with two pedals used to be the bane of my existence, but there comes a time you must accept the future. A well done CVT with a torquey turbo 4 could be fun.

I won't wait. I'll just go ahead and vomit, then move on to companies that make E36 M3 that isn't a hideous caricature of a bygone era but without anything that made the original great.

RE: CVTs, An older guy that I used to work with, that had at least a bit of real car guy cred, spent some time driving a Nissan CVT equipped car (IIRC it was a V6 Altima). He said that after adapting to it, it was actually pretty fun to drive. through the years this guy had owned quite a few cars that people on this forum covet, including a REPU, a turbo mazda 626, and an MB C230 compressor coupe. I haven't driven any modern CVTs yet, but I'm not going to condemn them until I've driven them. I'd still prefer a traditional stick shift though.

RE: This new Nissan. I'm not sure what to make of it. It looks like a blend of futuristic 510 with a bit of early skyline. As a big fan of seventies Datsuns, I really want to like it, but its just not working for me. The BRE version is close though.

this looks like some throwback, I would love to see the Japanese start doing throwback cars. I would love a throwback to the MK2 Supra.

It's one of those cars that I would actually buy I like the idea of a turbo 1.6. However it would benefit from the mandated japanese concept car rule of toning their 11 down to 6.

I think the Nismo with the other concept's front end would be killer.

Of coarse, it should have three petals and be RWD. However, I'd much have a NA 2.0/2.4 than some 1.6T.

oh yes, if it's not manual or at least a good dct (NOT a cvt) i would never consider it.
