Aside from this math, think about it. The car has 140K miles and you are concerned about cost of a cat that will go till it is a half million miles old? In California?
I mean, I don't think the rest of the car will go that long. They have bore erosion issues that increase oil consumption, which also poisons converters. 200k is a good life for a modern Toyota engine. The rest of the car seems okay.

Really? I thought Corollas if well cared for could last 400k? We are 2nd owners. First owners mostly kept it in garage. 2061 sounds like science-fiction.
