Just watched the first episode of the new season. AT is a perfect match to Lucky and she's got the goods to draw new people to our hobby. Doesn't come across as scripted. I found her knowledgeable and funny.

Ninja edit for grammar.

I've followed her on IG for over the past year. Definitely a fresh vibe. Can be a little "young" when expressing herself.

I'll give it a watch when I'm not working these past 4 days in a row.

Funny how grammar totally changes the intent... I assume.

Alex Taylor is the real deal. When they announced she was taking over from Tony, I felt she was a good choice and would have a really fun dynamic with Lucky.

Hot Rod Garage was one of my favorite Motortrend shows (Faster /w Finnigan might be my other) and Tony was a big reason for that.  So I think Alex has some large shoes to fill but I'll give her a fair shot when I watch it over the next day or so.

This is good to know. I watched "drive hard: the maloof way" on Netflix. My expectations were low, but good lord what a steaming heap of dookie that show is.

Will miss Tony but this first episode was good with Alex.

Semi related... Lucky is really testing his name running 10 sec passes with only lap belts.  Yikes.

I remember when they brought Tony on. A first, he was wood. Like 2x4 wooden. That wasn't the Tony that left the show. I always try to give someone new time and benefit of the doubt. I will do the same with Alex

The early Freiburger-Tony episodes were really rough. Actually, pretty much most of the early Hot Rod Garage episodes were really clunky

She wow'ed me with her knowledge of Auto transmissions, and then followed it up with methodically testing at the strip.

I will, however, miss Tony.  He clicked really well with Lucky after they hit their stride.

I still may cancel my subscription because of the loss of Dirt Every Day, but it won't be due to Alex joining HRG.

I feel like she had so much more to give on the Auto transmission and transmission brake information but was being told by a producer to dumb it down more.

I think she was a smart choice to replace Tony and look forward to seeing where the show goes.

The result of four years of art school and not enough attention to the few English classes I took.

In reply to earlybroncoguy1 :

I take it the grind of going back and forth from LA to Philly and being away from his kids was too much. He is still on YouTubes.

Yup. That's the gist of it. Plus he wanted to get back into more racing - stuff like the Silver State Classic, Rally, etc. Wouldn't surprise me to see a bunch of that pop up on his YouTube channel.

The monster that is MotorTrend will keep churning out tons of (mostly crap) content, so no worries there.

Best of luck to him on his YouTube channel. Hope it works out.

Second episode is up today. They seem to be gelling together pretty quickly. Also, I think the Grand Trashional is cursed. And I had to laugh at the cushion with the dinosaur print on it that they have to wedge in the Bonemaro so that Alex can reach the controls
