Sister-in-law needs a different car, and is excited about closeout deals on 2013 Mazda 3 sedans. Deals seem to be in the $15,000 range. What other new/certified-pre-owned cars should we cross-shop?

This will be a daily driver for a non-car person, emphasis on reliability, warranty, mileage, and something sporty-looking for a young, single lady. Automatic transmission only, and location is Orlando, Florida.

Thanks for your thoughts!

Well the 2014 is about a million times better (HYPERBOLE!!!), but otherwise, no, no there just isn't one. It's the best compact car, even for a non-car person. $15K is great for a new car.

^If the 2013's have the SkyActive, she likes it and can get a decent deal, I'd say for it.

The only complain about my wife's 2010 (not-SkyActiv) is the BOSE stereo isn't that good and the stock Bridgestone tires are dry rotting after 3.5 years.......otherwise it's been oil changes and 60k of trouble-free service.

Ford Focus, I got a brand new one for $16K, but it was a hatch. You should be able to find a 4 door sedan 5 speed SE in the $15k ballpark, just saw you need an auto. Don't get one then, lot's of complaints about the autos.
