But it has unecessary evils like ABS and TPMS that will cost you millions to own and repair.

That's kinda weird to think about. Buy a new car BEFORE you paid off the old one?

Not sure if sarcasm or not. The whole Ford/Firestone debacle is what got the ball rolling on federally mandated TPMS for everyone.

I have only one quick question.....why do you hate electric assist steering? The redline was great aside from getting snagged in the recall for it....and they feel consistantly in touch with the road, much more so than the damn hydraulic assist I've returned to.

As far as trucks, I'm liking where this is going. I don't care about truck styling really, as long as it can do what it needs to.

Something else probably would have come along to make that happen anyhow. And not fer nuthin, but that whole thing was about 5% Ford, 25% Firestone, and 75% idiots driving overloaded vehicles at too-high speeds with too-low tire pressures. And I'm being generous to the idiots.

Ok, fair enough, Ford has some involvement. I actually don't hate TPMS, I hate the complication/regulations around the system. If they standardized and sold a $50 universal controller to program the sensors, I'd be find with it.

I see a lot of styling from the Atlas concept. Also the 700lb weight reduction is a comparison to the old crew cab 4x4 to the 2015.

I have heard that Ford will release the details for the next Raptor this summer as a 2016 model. It should be interesting since the 6.2L is dead.

With the weight reduction and 2.7L turbo V6, I wonder what the fuel economy will be?

I'm still waiting on a 35mpg hybrid. 35mpg city/30 highway hybrid would rock.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I think Ford needs to do something. I work with three diehard F150 guys. All currently drive them, and are in the market for a new truck. These guys are hardcore, and not one of them is looking at a Ford.

I -still- see idiots driving around in explorers with the sidewalls on the tyres all chewed up from driving underinflated.

Question with the new truck.. is it the same size as the outgoing 150? I wonder if Ford continues to make a bigger truck, they might return a smaller ranger to our shores?

Can't be that hardcore, they're driving F150s. Buy a real truck you wusses!

I bet something like that will come along.. remember how much OBD-II readers cost in 2000.. we're only 5 years or so removed from when TPMS became mandatory and I'm sure the aftermarket is working away on trying to make programmers.

I thought I read something recently about cloning TPMS sensors and attendant tool, so you can copy IDs over from one set to another instead of having to get the car's codes updated (<Seinfeld cursing Newman voice>Subaru!</Seinfeld cursing Newman voice>)

Looks like Standard makes cloneable sensors and a tool (~$105, the T55000) to read the old sensors and program the new ones, so you can change between sets without a relearn or reprogramming...

Kinda surprised how we got 3 pages and almost no discussion about the 2.7 ecoboost. Supposedly it might get rated up there with the the 3.0 ram, 'close to 30' mpg hwy. I want to know how it drives.

But honestly, i kind of hope it doesnt get rated high enough to steal the EcoDiesel Ram's thunder. The ecodiesel ram needs time to sink in and get some momentum going for small diesels in half-ton (or smaller!) pickups. I feel like a 28+hwy mpg 2.7 Ford would be ill-gotten gains if it stifles enthusiasm for small diesels in pickups.
