So I want to try my hand at drifting. I already race with SCCA and will keep doing so. I've been looking for local-ish drift events in San Francisco Bay area and am shocked to find how few options there are. Or at least how hard to find they are. The pro events are well publicized but where are the amateur events like a local autox?

Anyone know how to find more info on this?

Am I just too old and not down with how to find the legal practice events?

The car in question is not street legal.

Sonoma raceway has been drift friendly for a while. I just checked their track schedule and they still run the events.

If you'd rather your first experience is more beginner friendly than on a track, I would go there and watch/ask around about other events at least.

Every time I'm running at Thunderhill with Reno SCCA, they're some people drifting there. Looks like a pretty cool group, might be worth looking into that.

Yeah, I'm aware how "local" that is to the Bay Area.

Ive been trying to find the same thing on the east coast. Seems like insurance rates are killing a lot of them off.

^That and drifters have made a nasty reputation for themselves by leaving tons of garbage at event locations, on top of the inevitable skidmarks.
