What a difference 5 mph can make for cornering entry speed. Sadly a talent deficiency was the lead cause of this wreck.
Uhh whoops...video link
I was going to retire this car at the end of the season any way, as the chassis was quite rusted, and the cage was no longer conforming recent changes, but was grandfathered. It would be fixable.
The short list of damage. Radiator destroyed. Oil pan dented, DOM bumper beam destroyed. Frame rails bent. Front right suspension pushed back. Engine ok.
Able to coast it down the hill, and fire it up to put it on the trailer.
Obviously aside from my pride, I'm ok. Happy with the performance of my hybrid pro rage neck restraint.

Speedo said about 70 mph when you went off. Surprised there is ANY front end left on the car.
It was a bit of ditch I went into so the impact was sort of 45 degrees from level, and that DOM bar and the frame rails took it straight on. Had I gone in level, I think it would have been far worse.
Just seeing trees tgat close would scare me.
Also glad you're okay. Thank goodness for good safety equipment.
Got to say the safety equipment worked perfectly. Might adjust the neck strap a touch tighter. I'm guessing one shoulder strap was just a touch looser than the other as one shoulder was a little sore. Nice to be able to walk away and begin the self loathing without mixing in a ER visit. Not that I recommend it, but I did find it neat feeling the head and neck restraint work.
Given the impact, 2 advil and a good beer was enough to make me feel OK.
yeah, ouch, wow. Glad you're ok!

That was a pretty abrupt stop. Glad it wasn't worse and that you are fine.
Seemed like you should have turned left instead of going straight.
ufff. I feel your pain.
Good Luck with the rebuild!

It didn't seem like there was much braking OP?! Were you thinking the road kept going straight? Curious to what happened...
Wow, I'm glad you're okay. That looked brutal.
Should be a lot of good stuff to use in a rebuild with a new shell. That bumper bar probably saved the cams.
In reply to HiTempguy:
I knew exactly where I was going.
Combo of factors.
Carried 6 more mph into that corner than my previous run.
There were spectators on the outside of the corner that were not suppose to be there, felt compelled to "wave them off" as I approached. That shouldn't have distracted me, but it did. Applied the brakes a split second too late.
Once I got into the marbles, it was either go in straight or rotate and go in sideways and roll.
I also suspect tires were cooler than optimum, but that is a guess.
I knew that corner very well, so that wasn't the problem.
95% of the problem was within my helmet.
Glad you're alright.
It says something that the engine was still running after that shock to the system (both you and the car).

Late turn in... Usually not as bad as early turn in, unless you are REALLY late.
Glad you are OK!
