Same as it ever was.
It's a 2004 LS. 99K. Ultimate edition, whatever that means. It's got cold AC, heated seats, and rides like a cloud. Perfect for my two hour trek three days a week. It rides so much better than my old 99 LS and even my 92 OCC. It's no Miata, but it outhandles both cars in spades.
My god, what have I done?
Love it. I got an 09 P71 and really like it. I'm sure yours gets better mileage. Mine feels relatively normal until it reaches highway speeds, and then it really shines as a cruising car.
Any plans for it? Mine is a daily as well and I keep toying with the idea of some freer-flowing mufflers just so I can have an auditory reminder of the V8 other than when at full throttle.

Shame it doesn't smell like old people.

Love the Talking Heads reference. Please go watch Hot Tub Time Machine.
Love the Panther. Great highway machine.
Pretty sure the ultimate edition has a cooled beverage storage spot in the back seat somewhere. They're supposed to be absurdly awesome in a Japanese businessman way.
Edit: nevermind, I was thinking of the Lexus LS with the beverage cooler. My brain isn't really working.
I had a 2003. The 2003 and up have some significant suspension geometry improvements and it really shows in the handling for such a heavy Highway Cruiser.
...and the days go by! David Byrne's= one crazy creative dude.
Time isn't holding up.
Time isn't absolute.
Same as it ever was.
...this is not my beautiful house...
...this is not my beautiful wife...
If your egr tube cracks i have a new one. That's about all i have left of my panther days
Since this is a thread about a drivable car, we know you won't ask "how did I get here?"

Do I detect some panther class competition at the next rally cross?

I grew up with mom driving a pair of '85 panthers. A Gran Marquis my sister totaled when she was 16 and a Country Squire wagon that replaced it.
Said sister had a series of minivans for about 10 years until her second kid was 10 then she down sized to a new Fiesta. Fast forward a year and she is having a new baby with her new husband. I don't know how their car search went but the ended up with a newer Gran Marquis. My first words to her were "Try not to put this one into a tree"
You may say to yourself, "MY GOD! WHAT HAVE I DONE?"
Things fall apart, it's scientific.
But at least parts for Panthers are plentiful!
Little over a week of ownership and I have already logged over a thousand miles. Hit 100k! First time I got to witness that. I also did its first oil change. It would appear that "The Old man and The Sea" (p.o.) had the oil changed somewhere that though it was a great idea to impact the drain plug on, and when that leaked, they globbed something blue around it that hardened. Thread lock? Who knows. So it has a new drain plug. And also, thank you Ford for making the oil filter drain all over the steering rack. Nothing but flowers on this road to nowhere, though I am hoping to find some Mustang wheels for it before I autocross it.
No rallycross for me, Rico. Haha
Welcome to the club. Not a Miata, but Vics have a charm all their own. I have about 3000 miles on the '07 P71 I picked up a few months ago. Considering putting civilian springs on it. I'm going with Mustang GT wheels, too. I have three already, need one more then I'll have the tires swapped over.
