So I am still thinking about the next project to haul into my hangar. After I am done putting my 1971 Moto Guzzi together, and between all the regular maintenance of the running project cars (we only have projects, normal cars are for losers) I think I have narrow my next torture, um I mean project down to an Alfa Romeo Alfetta GT. Why? Because my wife had one and were sentimental about them. They also look good (to us) and I like how they drive.
Our sort of plan is to find one somewhere that's drivable, fly to it, and drive it home.
We'll wait until winter. If there's no danger of freezing to death broken on the side of a highway in a 40 year old Italian car, then why bother.
Long term Alfetta pipe dream? Forced induction, caged, stripped down, street legal track day/hill climb car. Rally inspired looks will be a must, not more than 15K invested total, but less than 10K would be better.
Just thought I'd share.

I heartily approve of this idea.
10k seems like it will be a tight budget though.
I'll grab the popcorn and beer!
My first Alfa was a '77 Alfetta GT. That was a long time ago.
So when we were doing our '02-04 challenge car, it was a lot based on an Alfetta GT turbo that my friend did- and that was the basis of the LSR turbo Spider that has done just over 230 mph.
IMHO, your biggest challenge will be to find the car of your dreams. So be ready to buy in an instant when you find it.
If you know a good machinist, you can very much do a DIY turbo- the hardest part was to cut the stock pistons down to 8:1. (we did a turbo Alfa for the challenge, and it did well)
So in that vein- I have a 9:1 set of forged pistons that I was planning on using for a challenge over a decade ago. I'll be happy to sell them to you, for a good price.

I am thinking supercharged rather than turbo. I think I can fit this up.
