Collective wisdom of the group needed. Wife wants another classic convertible in the stable, leaning towards a 6200 series Cadillac. Collective wisdom on what this car is worth. Would be held in off-site storage when we are not using it.

Man, that is wicked cool. I'd imagine the answer is "a lot".

The 1965/66 cars seem to go for a lot less than others if that's a concern. Not QUITE as cool as a '61, but it still has the 60's influence on the interior.

I think 15K is pretty good. New engine, new paint, a few minor items, rare car. Putting the new top on will be an adventure. Can you go see it?

80% complete, AC needs service, shaved door handles, lowered to hell, non-stockish aftermarket interrior, 390, meh, I'd say 10, but only because the collectability has been 'shaved', and it's confused as to wheter it's a restoration, a low rider, or a rat rod, I see all 3 in there, and it's going to take $$$ to get it to either, either, or...
That thing is too cool for school.
To me the air ride suspension is a negative, mostly because you can't tell if the installation was a hack job or not. That said the car looks good otherwise so hopefully it was done in a professional manner.
Also, it's nice to see an old Cadillac for sale on the HAMB that hasn't been painted flat black.
The 15k asking price seems reasonable, based on the information available.
Owner I think will take 12.5K I think if I push. The car was stock when he got it and blasted to clean, I have seen pictures of the repairs in his album so I know he understands what he is doing. I don;t mind dropping another 7-10K into the car if I have to.
Worries
Suspension but at this price I can fix it and still come out at least even when we get tired of it. Gauge's, might be out.
Positives
Its not flat black, the interior is appropriate for the price. I have done a top on a 62 with a friend its not something I would enjoy doing but its not impossible. Car has the factory 2.93 overdrive gear so allegedly it gets 19-20 on the freeway at 60ish.
Think I would want to go custom.
If I wanted to go partial custom style would need to fab out full skirts, better wheels for sure. Maybe toss the top and have a permanent tanouu cover made for the rear seats and to cover the rear.
Thing will fit in storage I got the measurements back a hour ago.

No but all smaller cars must give you the right away on the starboard side.
Nothing constructive to add but:
A. What a cool car.
B. Wish my wife liked "old" cars. The MG has ruined her on them. Didn't help that it spit oil all over her when we were dating.
The only problem I see with it is that it is trying a bit too hard. Does it come with tattoo'd sleaves and a hipster hat?
Other that that it looks cool, but I don't really like "custom" work". I'd love a nice good clean 63 deville so maybe I'm a bid biased toward coupes. Definitely a great pirade car though.

Yeah I know but that can be fixed.
Good
So talked with the owner for about a hour. Spray'd by him but properly, airbags are done right; effectively its a off the shelf kit with ride height settings added with 8 valve control. I have actually seen the car before it was all done up in town, it came from San Diego about 24 months ago. Motor rebuild has documentation, proper rear gear.
Bad
The stuff that needs to be done, top; but he has new fabric from a top source. Air conditioning needs to be rebuilt, which is a huge pain on a early 60's caddi. Interior is vinyl, its good grade stuff but its not leather like it is supposed to be. Wheels need to be replaced. More then likely the gas tank is going to have to be dropped and resealed at some point. Motor was not out during paint but taped off and sprayed dark black.
Its a honest 8K to finish car to the level that I want. I think I can at least get out of it without major damage when I get bored.
Price we worked out is 13.5K.
So waiting on some more photos but I am first in line.
So does anybody on the board live in Lodi who can take a look in person for me.
I think that's a pretty good price. I'd be going to look at it if it wasn't on the other side of the country. I love performance cars, but there's nothing better than a vert land yacht for cruising.

That always reminds me of a response at a race from another boat.
Skipper, "Starboard"
Other Skipper "Steel hull."
We yielded.
As for the Cadi, she rocks
That car calls for only this smiley --->
So apparently, I think, I own a big honking Cadillac Need to start really looking for a repair manual and maybe some other small stuff. One of my truckers is even up there and can drag it back on Monday or so.
Not exactly sure yet that the deal is done, seller is a little wishy washy, he really does not want to sell. Think he is being forced into it by external factors.
But we have a price and cash get sent on Friday/Saturday if I can find a branch that is open. After loosing the last four or five cars this really need to stick. I have had nothing around but the stupid truck for about two months and its driving me nuts not to have a project.

I've got a spare manual for a 1965 if you can't find one for the 61. Same engine. The book's a bit rough, but works. I've found that most classic caddy suppliers tend towards the shady end of the spectrum. Cad500parts.com is good from what I recall, and there was also classiccaddy.ca.
Awesome car. Everybody loves old Cadillacs. But nobody will ever be able to guess the year of the car. It's the weirdest thing.
Well I think I got screwed over on the deal. No contact for 48 hours, no bank transfer info from the seller, no response to text messages. Honesty, I said I would take the car, I offer to pay in full in 24 hours, hell I even found shipping. Other then driving up there and shoving 100's into the guys hands who knows what else I could have done.
Five cars now in a row I have been screwed over by sellers, inspection or just lack on contact after agreeing to a price.
Digging the Caddy, but I have serious doubts about my wife parking that thing!
I saw a 59 Cadillac convertible at an old salvage yard a few weeks ago, it was actually still pretty complete, but its one of those kind of yards and its only going to sit there as the guy refuses to sell anything and the city comes and scraps it all.
Got an email back 2 minutes ago, guy had a bit of a family thing to deal with. So still got the deal.
Thinking about just driving up and dragging it back on a trailer as a kind of fun little adventure.
PS
Posting like crazy lately because I am stuck on the couch with a pulled back and lots of vicodin.
Good luck with that back, and the car. Hope you get it, because I want to see the detailed thread on all the cool stuff you are going to do to it.
