I've been asked to work on a 1981 corvette and the owner is in love with the idea of his car being the first corvette with a computer.

It's not running right or signalling the fuel control solenoid and I can't pull codes by jumpering the connectors, all I get is a rapid clicking of a relay under the hood with a steady flashing check engine light. The yach needle also bounces when jumpering the diagnostic connectors. It's got a realtively fresh PCM and carb on it, any ideas?

why would anyone want the first of anything with a computer?

throw on regular q-jet, regular HEI, leave computer in place, unplug relay, pull CEL bulb. and if he isn't very bright he will never know the difference.

They are hateful pieces of E36 M3. Tear it down and clean it. The one I had would have to be cleaned every year or so. Otherwise the damn needles would get stuck in the seats and it would fall flat on it's face. You just can't imaging how much I hated that carburetor.

I'll second sticking a regular Q-jet on it.
