A co-worker has a 1993 Saturn SL 1.9/ auto base car and the A/C fuse keeps blowing. The car is in overall good condition for it's age and he would like to fix the issue. My gut says the clutch is drawing too many amps (7.5 fuse) but I can not find a wiring diagram and don't want to look like an ass.
At this point I know the wiring from the fuse to the compressor is good, not short to ground or power and when voltage is applied the clutch will engage without any drama and the compressor seems to work as well. Checked the engine ground, no change. Also swapped the A/C relay no change.
Anyone ever see this on a Saturn?
Thanks, Paul B
I had some weird issues on a Saturn where someone had replaced a diode in the fusebox with a fuse and it would blow the A/C fuse. This could also happen if the diode went bad and passes voltage both ways, I'd check there first.
I was reading about a diode but cannot find one in the fuse box, this is why I am looking for a wiring diagram. More searching..
Diode will look like a standard ATM fuse but it will be black with a diode heiroglyph instead of colored and numbered. I'd like to say that it is next to the oil reset button.
I'd amp clamp the clutch and make sure it doesn't have massive voltage drop. High voltage drop on the wires means bad wire, low drop but high current is bad clutch coil.
