Anybody here a Licensed Texas motor vehicle dealer? I purchased a challenge car, a Mazda 3 for $400 and to transfer the title Texas has something called "Standard Presumptive Value" and for this car its $2500! so they are taxing me at $2500 even though I have a bill of sale at $400.  I need a dealer to sign a form saying the value of the car is actually $400. Any help would be great thanks

In reply to Andy Hollis :

thank you! I will send whoever the filled out form with a stamped self addressed envelope. so all they need to do it put their dealer # and sign. I can provide photos and video of the car. Im not trying to cheat the system this car is actually worth $400 maybe $500 since that's how much a local junkyard would give me. all the local used car dealers here would charge me a crazy amount to appraise the car more than what I would pay in tax lol.

Worst case and you can't get a dealer hook up, that's like $150-160 tax to just bite the bullet.

I am told that you have to do a pass-through deal, which is typically $500. Cheaper to just pay the tax
