1991 Miata / Jeep, clear Miata title, New brake system, new tires, new alternator, runs and drives great, have hard top . $3500.00

I can't post pictures from work, but you can see it here:

I actually saw this car on the side of the road for sale. I assumed it was some kind of Willys lowrider experiment gone horribly wrong. I didn't have time to stop and check it out.

I love Miatas. I also love Jeeps.

I hate that.

Wow, that is an unholy union!
It appears that the Miata gas tank is sitting in the "bed" of the jeep next to the spare tire. I will bet that the ammo box next to that is the battery.

A little more info in the ad would be nice. I would go look at it just out of morbid curiousity but it's not worth the hour and a half round trip to me.

A little refinement, and that would rule.

I once thought of buying a Bronco II and lowering it so it could handle...now I know how ridiculous it would look.

I thought folks who bought/owned Jeeps didn't care whether they could handle a curving road.

That is all kinds of awesome! Especially with the doors off. Imagine the looks you would get at an autocross or track day.

let's see, what are the redeeming qualities of each vehicle:

Miata: handling lightweight low center of gravity

Jeep: ground clearance axle strength approach angle departure angle

This combination seems to have ruined all redeeming qualities of both vehicles. Good build indeed.

You know, if the windshield and roll bar were a little lower, and the side curtains removed, it would sort of look like a Mini Moke. I can't decide if that's a good or bad thing.

Also: needs more LS1.

i'm with this guy. polar awesome opposites combined to completely negate each other. normally i'm all about the weirder or more unique, the better, but that one just doesn't work for me.

I think the Hellcamino is half Civic hatch/half S10.

I'm wrong, it's a CRX. I suppose.

How I suggest "fixing" the Jiata:

Extend wheelbase about 4" at the front

Raise the suspension a few inches and give it a touch of rake

Take off the upper doors, fold the windshield down

Wider wheels/tires with appropriate offset to extend past fenders by a couple of inches.

Basically, somewhere between what it is now and this:

But, for all the guys that have headroom issues in a Miata, this is the perfect solution !!!

I think the question everyone has forgotten to ask is whether there's a Miata tub setting on a CJ chassis in his garage?

Now this is relavant to my interestes. I love the idea of lowered 2wd jeeps, early broncos, samurais and old willys wagons. I do love those vehicles but as a modern city dwelling man I have absolutely zero need to ever go off road and the idea of driving slowly over rough terrain for the sole purpose of driving slowly over rough terrain doesnt sound like fun to me. All it needs is to remove the top and sport a more aggressive wheel and tire combo and it would look great. It is really let down by the steelies and balloon tires.

I search craigslist at least once a week for a soft top samurai to pull the transfer case out of, build a double wishbone front end and plug a swift GTI 1.3 16v onto the end of the 5spd. Imagine the tech inspectors at an autocross clearing a samurai to run

In reply to ditchdigger:

You know you could start with a 2wd Tracker or Sidekick, right? Strut front suspension already and some variety of link rear suspension.

take the doors off, push the windshield down and drop the seats down as low as you can stand it and rock it. Thats what I'd do.
