My brother and sister-in-law inherited her grandmothers Oldsmobile Cutlass Calais 4 door a couple of years ago. They drove the car as a daily driver. It now has around 90,000 miles. They are moving from Alexandria Virginia to Tennessee next week and have decided not to bring that car with them. I read the recent thread on Olds here and told him I would post and see if anybody wanted to make a quick move.

The car is in pretty good shape. He feels comfortable driving it when he comes home to Knoxville and it has never let him down (well, one trip the muffler fell off and we did change the water pump while he was here).

I don't have any pictures. Might be a good first car foe a new driver (except for the roomy back seat, if you know what I mean). Contact me at 8six5 591 zero98two if interested in a quick deal.

There's a Classifieds Section (if you know what I mean).

I went over and posted in the 2017 classified since he will way under the limit. His option, that he likes, is taking the car to CarMax. I figure they would give him very little for it.

With the 3300, they're pretty decent beaters. Had one in high school, and enjoyed it.

Without that engine, though...it's just another turd of a GM product.

I'm afraid if I buy it, I will instantly age 20 years and be eligible for AARP benefits...then I'll die...of boredom...from driving that car.

Is it at all possible that it's a 4 door International Series with the Quad 4 H.O. and a 5 speed Getrag?

Yeah, they DID make 'cool' versions of that car, it's just that they're unobtanium.

As mentioned, the 3300 makes them pretty damn punchy for a bottom-rung model of an 80's GM.

I had an Iron Duke 2.5/auto one briefly. Got it free and sold it for $300. It was a weird car because it was gutless but felt like it gained 20hp right before it upshifted. Never looked into it.

yes, the V6 cars could be nice drivers, the 2.5 4 banger...well it would get you there....

I have known a few people who owned them over the years, not a single one of them ever bought the cars, they were all "gifts"

My parents had one--back when they were still in production. They didn't have a Quad 4 car, but it did have the rally gauges and wheels.

Had a '92 Buick Century coupe w/ the 3300 as a DD, damn good car. Had 125K when it got rear ended and totaled in '07. No rust either but I was gonna paint it, it was that good.

How did old people end up with these cars?

They bought Oldsmobiles because they always had Oldsmobiles.

By the 90's it was still habit even though the cars were junk.

Whenever I see one on the road, I yell "look...a cockroach!" They weren't "junk", insipid & outclassed maybe. STILL seen on the road in NEPA when none of their contemporaries survived, that's GOTTA say something about their, um, quality.

I still see them on the road in E36 M3 shape but running
