Anyone on Long Island,NY that can look at a car for me,or offer me some help in traveling there? I live in MA,and looked at the maps online. I can either drive down through the city, and onto LI, drive to eastern CT and take a ferry to Orient Point,NY,or drive to Bridgeport,CT,and take a different ferry to Port Jefferson. The car is in Centereach which is close to Port Jefferson if that helps. The ferries are expensive, and probably don't save much if any time unless there is traffic I suppose, but the idea of driving through NYC doesn't do much for me. Any help would be appreciated.

I live 10 minutes from Centereach but I'm down at the Challenge and won't be home until next Friday.
As far as the ferry or driving, the Bridgeport one is your best bet, it doesn't save any time in ideal driving conditions but, it will save grief and aggravation.
And how often are the conditions ideal in southern CT and NYC, that's probably one of the worst segments of I95 there is.
Thanks Supercoupe,
I thought the ferry would save hassle even though I still need to drive to Bridgeport which is about three hours from me. It is a bit over $100 to go round-trip,but if that saves me from sitting in bumper to bumper traffic then it is worth every penny. If I don't get down there before Friday I will have you look at the car for me if you could. By the way you may have seen the car. It is a 74 Mazda RX-4 coupe that is pearl white.

I took the Bridgeport ferry to get my Porsche home from the Hamptons. I left my truck and trailer in Bridgeport, walked to the boat and had the seller meet me at Port Jeff with the car.
If you've ever driven from Connecticut to Long Island, your first choice for the next trip would be to take the ferry. Second choice would be to swim.
