Gabe is building an S10  for the Challenge.

https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/build-projects-and-project-cars/1982-chevy-s10-2018-challenge-build-by-a-16-year-old-kid/138097/page1/

Unfortunately he was planning on the drags more than autocross so the change up hit him. Since he's kinda hooked on the Challenge he's coming anyway. Currently he only has a drag setup for tires. I have a set of wheels with with some R1s on them. The problem is storage and budget both real world and Challenge. If I let him borrow them he takes a $400 hit to his Challenge budget. I only want $100 for them but he can't store/keep them after the Challenge. So would someone be interested in buying these for $100 and letting Gabe use them?

In reply to Indy-Guy :

I think you're 5*4.75ish and these are 5*4.5.

Won't fit BMW. 5x114 is Nissan and mustang though.

but afterward the Fiero brake change could also get larger bolt pattern and 4.5 is the popular change, no commitment though just pondering.

wouldn't have to change the color.

He's put an 8.8 in and using adapters for the front so you're correct a stock S10 wouldn't take 5*4.5.

My S10 has an 8.8 swap and in order to only carry one bolt pattern i opted for 5x4.75 to 5x4.5 adapters/spacers which means it sits on Ford style pattern and the Ford pattern also has more wheel options making them cheap to find.

Checked my records and I paid a lot less than I thought for the tires so Gabe might be ok with a borrowed budget hit. They're still available if someone else wants to borrow or buy them just remember that Gabe has first dibs on using them.

I could use those for the RX8 if you don't have any other takers. Was hopping to find 17x9 but thats a good deal.

I realize this is probably bending most of the rules of the challenge but- what if someone offers you say, a dollar. Maybe 20. For the tires. Then turns around and leans them out for who ever needs them. Then shortly after challenge concludes (perhaps over dinner at the banquet even) resells them BACK to you for that same 20. Now I get fmv and inside deals,  but if the deal is on the table, in the open, and is done solely in the spirit of helping other challengers.....

How is that not an inside deal?

It's a matter of technicality. As I understand it- the fmv inside deal rule applies to deals that would not be normally available to Joe schmoe. Ie- this bullet turbo that "fell off the back of my friends truck" or the 871 that " my friend sold me for a dollar". Those pieces are not available to the general public. I propose that an agreement be made with stampie allowing the purchase of some cast of wheels for a low price, publicly. Anyone could theoretically be the guy/girl with the Jackson. It would also allow multiple competitors to benefit from a minuscule budget hit in a year where anything is helpful due to the scrambling causes by the lack of drags. Letting more than just one person use them also puts that public deal out there. Now, openly engineering a workaround of the rules as they sit is liable to get me boxed soundly about the ears, but hey, if someone wants to race, I say let's figure it out.

In reply to Mndsm :

No.  It's the integrity of the competitors that makes the Challenge what it is.

This isn't a life or death thing for a Challenge entry like a last minute fuel pump or other mission critical hardware. You're talking about race tires. Everyone is allowed one budget exempt set and you can race on mismatched Chinese all seasons if that's all you can afford.
