i may have missed some age/odometer requirements, but i've got a decent '03 mazda6s (V6 5sp sport, leather, bose, 165k mi) that only fails marginally on highway mpg (best i've seen is 27 but that's at 80-ish, because michigan). you want to make buy, yes? for you, special price $4k.

Por que? Ruling out a lot of options there.
So? Very few imports push my buttons, besides fitting me.

Sounds like a good deal there.
Ranger50: You buying a car reminds me of this article by John Phillips. Sorry to link to C&D, but it's pretty 'spot' on.(HA, get it?) Case in point: I was looking for a Miata that would be good to autocross, wound up in this Accord.

If you like that MSM, much as i don't want to cut off my buddy Tekel on all the Miata forums... i'll sell you mine for $13k.
any interest in a Vibe GT?

No. Reason being, is that its my turn to buy a "new" vehicle before the wife needs another. So, I better get what I want first because it will be years and years before getting another, unless it is a fixer-upper to flip or part out.
Alright... let's turn this around, then: What do you want?

Pass. Still have one of those in my yard. Only reason it isn't gone is because it is a diesel.
I liked this quote:
"Okay, then, a V-6 Mazda Tribute or Ford Escape," I reply. "Good mileage, agile, fun, tall view. Holds bikes, skis, dogs, quarry explosives, oriented strand board. I'm driving one right now. I love it."
Exactly what I want a vehicle. The ability for it be fun and hold explosives.

I didn't see a price range you were looking in. But I feel you on almost all this. All I want is a Mazda6 with the 2.3L, 5 door, and manual transmission, somewhere not north of the rust border or 1000 miles away form me. This apparently is a rare car.
No comment on the other billion cars I linked?!?

Because it isn't "fun". I don't like them. They are a cross between a wagon and CUV, besides being a rebadged Toyota.
I really want the blue 5.0 with the Track Pack at the local dealer, but 37k I don't have. Better?

The silence should have been deafening. Did you not read my first post?
In reply to Ranger50:
There were a bunch of 4-cam Cobra's for sale in your area for under $10K, even with low miles. Will that work?
In reply to Ranger50:
I gave you all 'Murican cars and Mazda's with sticks. They all exactly fit your first post. A 5.0 Mustang does not.

But you asked what I really wanted. Not what I would settle for and that is what I listed in the first post. When is an Audi TT, MR2, or a 350z a domestic? Big Blue Auto... I wouldn't buy a bicycle from them. RX8? MPG's are a no go.
I say it to everybody, but Mazda2s are dirt cheap, especially leftover 2012s, fun, good manual transmission, have four doors and back seats that people can actually fit in, decent aftermarket support, and get low-mid 30s when driven by people like us. (Hypermilers get them well into the 40s supposedly.) I hear stories of '12s going for 11k new these days, but even a '13 should be under 16k OTD.

8200rpm isn't fun? a 6sp tranny isn't fun?

Ouch.
Granted mine was a base and not the Premium. But I got my '13 GT with Track Pack (no other options) for $30,500 from the dealer about 10 minutes from my house.
And that was on a special order car as well.

It really stickers for just over 35k, but they tack on a ADM of at least $1995.... Plus the front bumper cover has what looks like dog nail scratches in it......
The wrapper is what makes it affordable.
